Feeling an accomplishment

Today was a good one.  Pancakes came out good for a breakfast change.

Sherry is doing well,  She is doing the laundry and is proud of herself for reading a real book, LOL.  A friend loaned her Jan Karon's 'My Beloved.'  She complained about the smaller print, but thoroughly enjoyed the book.  WE followed Jan for a while.  Loved "The Mitford Series." WE both read e-books for the large print. ;-)

Oh yes, the Fish fry went great.  Sherry did her (family famous) Pea Salad.  A recipe she picked up about 1958 in Biloxi Mississippi.  At first I could not find my Fish Fry Equipment.  But I did get it.

Then did French fries, hush puppies and fried the fish last.  My gorl said the puppies were the best she ever tasted. (she is buttering me up!)

Oh yes, and I completed a BIG ask on my to do list.  WE had a bad area in the house. An old unused and disconnected cast iron bath tub in a 5x6 area just outside the master bathroom. With son Mark's help we got the 200 lb+ tub out.  Then I started remodeling.  I redid the Drywall, added slate style flooring there and into the bathroom. I added wainscotting and made chair rail. followed by adding two 120v receptacles.  It  is now ready for a vanity set up and my girl will have a nice make-up area.

Above shot is entering from our bedroom. Bathroom is to the right just insice this door.

This is looking from the master bathroom our Bedroom is just to the left out this door.

I got hugs an kisses for this one.  LOL  She is especially thrilled with the floor, the old tile was breaking and cracked.

Anyway I am also proud of me for finally getting it done It has taken two or three weeks (Maybe a month, so you  can imagine the mess she has put up with. .

Now to bed, but first thanks for the comments, prayers and support.. As we try to climb back into the world.

Nite Shipslog.

Wow, that fish fry dinner sounds SO good! Love some good hush puppies! And your bathroom transformation is beautiful! Can't wait to see the new vanity when it is complete! That was a big project and a LOT of work! I'm impressed!!!

I just read the last 5 orr 6 posts that I have missed. First of all-yes-get the radiation. I know it is scary and miserable but it does work. If hubby had not had it 10 years ago he would not be celebrating a birthday today. He had a very aggressive head/neck cancer and has been cancer free since then.

I LOVE hush puppies and you can't get good ones here. Once in a great while I make them myself but, as you know, with a fryer and all-they are a mess and time consuming. Time seems to be in short supply here. I have been taking some care of my neighbor (that I dearly love) and now have her 10 month old pup to add to the circus the other two. So now I have a three ring circus and I guess that makes me a RingMistress. lol

Your vanity area is beautiful. I wish I had your old claw foot tub for the cottage. I have rescued at least 3 of them in the last 20 years and had one of them reporcelainized. (is that even a word?).

We have heavy smoke here-everything is shut down as we are in the hazardous zone. This morning it is raining hard. We need the rain but wish it came with winds to blow some of the smoke away.

Hugs and prayers to you and Sherry. I am sorry I haven't been visiting more often. I do think about y'all. xo xo xo Diana

Wow! That was a big accomplishment! Thankfully the new tubs don't weigh as much as the old ones did. But I did like a porcelain tub. I love hushpuppies but have never made them. We have a restaurant nearby that serves them with their catfish. Yum. Can't wait to see that new vanity.
