Tuesday Moving out of one’s home country

 Photo of the day:

Lost my pictures of the Big Bend country, but we did discover this hot spring bordering the Rio Grande. The blue is the hot spring the off color is the Rio Grande, yes, so close you can sit in the springs and put your arm in the river, I did it!.

So for today:

Every election year I read of  people that declare things like “If that fool xxx gets elected I am leaving this country!”  Normally that does not come to pass.

I live in the USA and do not consider leaving. However, I personally know two possibly three (not sure if the last man is gone for good) men who have moved from the USA.  One, a kid I knew in 1954 from a family living in Belmont., later in life moved to Athens, Greece. Lately I have a cousin who has moved to Thailand. He declares he is not returning.

We have a nephew who is on his 3rd marriage, all ladies from other countries.  The latest is in Kenya.  The first two he brought to the USA, this one he has established a home in Kenya, where she is from.

Do you ever think of those poor, war torn or religious torn countries and the homeless there? They want to leave and cannot. We have been to Mexico several times. Even once 'illegally' we paid a kid $20 while in Texas to pole  us across the Rio Grande in his boat.  We entered a poverty stricken town; no indoor plumbing and where the only running water was a faucet on the street. The street was dirt. People came there to get buckets of water, sorta like we used to get our water from a spring or well (Maybe you do not remember that!).

I cannot find my pictures of the illegal crossing, maybe they are illegal LOL. we crossed a few miles below that hot spring shown above.

I have told Sherry many times "If I lived here, I would swim that river every day, even if caught and sent back, I would keep on until I was in the USA!  I absolutely mean that!

I am not always thrilled with our leadership in the USA, but I have never planned to live in another country. Have YOU? Do you personally know someone who left their country of birth?

Just curious…  (I know, curiosity killed the cat!)

Nite Shipslog

PS:

AGAIN THANKS for reading the  Shipslog. I even laugh at me for this silly stuff. LOL

I've never considered leaving this country, I'm a proud member of the United States. No one on earth has it any better than what we do. I've visited many places but only in our Country. There is so much to see, I've never been tempted to leave. I don't know of anyone who has left. They have to be out of their minds.

Yes, I think I have a cousin who left the states after the last election. I say thinks, on account we're mutually estranged ... due to same election, lol. No regrets!
I can't begin to think of anywhere else I'd like to live. Even the thought of international travel in this tumultuous day and age is scary.

I have an older male cousin who moved to Indonesia, long before the election. Far as I know he still lives there. Take care, Sheila

Our country may not be perfect but it is the place I love and wouldn't want to love anywhere else.
