COINCIDENCE(s)

We have been amazed at the number of times we park to get groceries that when we return to put the groceries in the car, the person parked next to us is there also; doors opened putting groceries in their car.

There are also times when you have one bathroom, two folk need it at the same time. Winking smile .

I have a friend, Gary, who once said every morning when I go to work, everybody wants to be where I am.

I can remember years ago when I got $20 ahead our car knew it and blew a tire.

There was a time also when we got $50 ahead, some bill collector knew it also.  Surprised smile.

Sherry has noticed when she finds money in the washer, I just happened to remember leaving that amount in my pocket!

Oh, yesterday I decided to go to the PO to mail two letters ‘Priority Mail’ .  Fifteen other folk decided to go also and they all had several packages.

At one time we had a White Honda van. I came out with my groceries, no one was putting groceries in the car beside it. I should have known something was wrong. My key did not open the back.  Then a nice lady got out of the van and said, “You must have the wrong van.”  Why would that lady park a van just like mine that close?  hahahaha!

I am sure it happens to you at times also, coincidental things that is.

That is why we turn off our phones when we have $-x.  Because sure as shooting, that one time of the year, the phone will ring! Surprised smile

Basin, Wyoming and Pickup trucks

I believe it is on Highway 16 South of Cody.

(Paula in here younger years, above)

Once when we were traveling with our partners Dick & Kat (My sister and her hubby) on one occasion visited Yellowstone.  We were fortunate to get camp sites in Yellowstone that time and it gave us plenty of time to drive around the park and take in many of the amazing sites.

I remember saying, if I was a pioneer and walked into this, I would have left immediately. There were hundreds of small holes in the ground from which steam was escaping. There were many fields with geysers, but none as steady as ‘Old Faithful’.

Of course Yellowstone is the center piece of all national parks because if is so large and the sites are so varied. There is even a spot labeled ‘Grand Canyon’ of the Yellowstone. Sighting of wild life is unbelievable.

But we left thru the less used GATE on the east and headed for Cody, WY. Since we were just wandering we turned south at Cody and were ready for a break when we saw a sign, “Free RV Parking, full hookups downtown Basin, please visit us. Basin is the county seat of, Big Horn County, Wyoming, United States.”

The park was full, so we went about 1/2 mi and found an RV park, self service and on the honor system, $10. We learned the reason the uptown park was full, it was county fair time and we were right beside it.

Nobody wanted to cook, so we went to the only café in town. Basin, the county seat is about 1000 in population. Sherry was too cold in the café so she went next door to the thrift shop and bought a nice sweater for 25¢, solved the problem.

Everyone was tired and no one wanted to go to the fair but me. I have told this before, but as I walked across the parking area (a field) no cars, just pickup trucks (every yr shape and size), up drove a cowboy and his wife. Little cowboy about 6 jumped off the back of the truck and called to his dad, ‘See you later.’ Dad said, “Find a friend and hang with him, we will catch up later.” (my mind flew back in time, when that freedom and trust was true down south.)

Seeing kids washing their sheep, grooming the horses, shining up the coats of cows was refreshing. I watched the 3 & 4 wheel competition at herding cows by kids. No horses, what?  LOL

I love small towns, I have a feeling they are the same all over the world. But, I will never forget Basin, Wyoming.

Georgia nature Walk

We are back in Florida, but we had a great campsite in Georgia, one we have had before. We  were only about 50 yards from where the 3 Mile Nature Trail began.

It is a path around the lake, quiet and peaceful. I spotted NO wild life, I mentioned it and Sherry refused to contribute some ‘WILD LIFE’ to change that, so we walked. This time I remembered to take the camera.

100_3787

There is a long board walk, very rustic and lots of Spanish moss.

100_3789

Just off the board walk I saw this cat in the tree singing to us.  I had to add a little so everyone could see what I saw. LOL

100_3791

The trail is nice and wide most of the way and we could walk side by side (holding hands like love birds, She still refused the wild life!

100_3793

I wanted to see frogs on these Lily Pads, but they must have been a-courting.

100_3794

Imma holding this little tree up so it won’t fall on my girl.

100_3796

Nice picnic table and a good shot across the lake.

100_3797

This tree is at least 6’ thru with a strange two foot round object protruding, I couldn’t figure it out.

100_3798

100_3799

Hill  goes up about fifty feet, with the ‘Wrong way’ sign, we could not figure what they meant.

100_3800

We rested here, That is a wild Live Oak tree, big dude with long arms. (There was a ‘Go Back’ sign also, that confused us, figured it was a joke)100_3803

We spotted this small American Flag, all alone on a small hill. I liked it.

100_3804

There was not a lot of color on the trail, so this stood out.

100_3805

Now we are looking back across the lake and about home. A very good walk.

100_3807

Back home Sherry made some fancy coffee and unthawed our friend Ann’s cake and had some dessert.

Christmas Cards! (?)

It seems for the past 4 or 5 years we put ourselves in a dilemma at this time of year, do we send Christmas cards this year? It is true postage continues to go up, but that is not our controlling factor.

CD4499_Z

I read many entries on blogs and on FB and  in comments, ‘I have ceased to send cards.’ The main problem we have is, ‘I do not want someone who has stopped, to feel bad or obligated when they receive one from us.

Soooooo this year reluctantly we cut the list away back. WE are dropping from more than 100 to about 30.  Back to some family and the friends with whom we do not keep in contact with via the net. We have friends who are too old for the net Winking smile.

Still we feel a little bad about it.  Do you still send cards?

Christmas-Cards-03Christmas-Cards-13christmas-cards-dbrgk09s

It was always a warm feeling to take them to the Post Office knowing our love was leaving in every direction.

christmas-greetings-cards-vx0qobjo

But everything is subject to change.  We no longer put up a large tree. But riding under our bed is a 24” ceramic Christmas Tree. Also stored are Christmas nick-knacks that Sherry spreads over the coach to let us know it is Christmas.

religious_2091544a

We have reached the point that we are each others Christmas present.  We don’t need a thing, we have been blessed above our wildest dreams  and honestly we do not have a lot of room for anything else. Smile

Since Sherry is in the Card mood, I thought I would ask around.

PS:  Off to Florida this morning, see you there!
