A picture from the Past.
For Today:
I am NOT complaining. Compared
to the damage many have felt; ours is trivial.
We lost no trees. But those
trees dropped one million limbs plus or minus a thousand or so. LOL I am talking about little limbs that the
winds bring down sorta pruning them. Away from the house you could not step
without stepping on small twigs and limbs. So most of the debris was little 1
and 2 foot pieces. There were a few 3-6” thick limbs, I have one area about 100’
x 100’ cleaned up and burned. Tomorrow I will head into the woods to start
clearing.
It is good exercise. I tell
Sherry I am going out to play. For me it
is. We were affected by one tree that
fell across one of our drives. It was the neighbor’s tree. It hit the power lines but did not take the
lines down.
The tree was leaning completely
across the road. I called the power
company 6 months ago about that tree and met their tree man to talk. He looked at it and said, “This tree will
stand years yet, it has vines supporting it also.”
Well it did fall, I am sure
the tree man was not expecting sustained 50+ mph winds.
OH, I had a nice surprise
upon my return. My grandson Ben had come
over and did work on the deck I have been playing with, he did some fantastic
work; much better than I have been doing.
We do not know how long we will stay in NC before
heading to Florida, but it won’t be more than 2 weeks methinks. Like everyone
else, gotta the County/city property taxes here. They are outrageous. We pay $777 a month here
in Gaston County.
We are not moving out of the coach, gonna live
behind the house.

So, ‘Thanks’ AGAIN to
y’all for stopping by the Shipslog. It is nice to know that folks read this
stuff.
PS 2: For sure got to
wash the car and RV we were in rain on and off the whole trip home..

Safe travels. I don’t care if its a hurricane valley, I would still love to move to Florida.
We had some limbs and leaves all over the yard from neighbors trees but thats it. Three trees fell in my neighborhood but no one was hurt.
From over here

Praise the Lord you are safe and no great damage. God bless always my friends.
You sure are getting your exercise - but glad your house is in tack.
Wonder how your home in Florida is. So nice your grandson helped you. You are paying $777 a month in house taxes there? WOW!
Gosh, I'm getting weary just reading about your clean-up. So glad the damage wasn't worse!
I must have missed something along the line -- Ben's living in NC now? What a blessing!
That last meme is spot-on!
I'm thankful your damage was only limbs and twigs. It was much worse for others in the south. Exercise is good as long as you don't over do it. Hope you all are soon on your way south again.
Glad to hear you are okay and damage wasn't too bad.
The picture of the little girl that fell asleep is so funny!!!
Jack, I picked up sticks, mowed, tore out dead flower beds, and lifted only 2 old fence post cover in 50 lbs of concrete and carried across the alley to my neighbor's junk pile. He said I could put anything in it as he was finally having the city crew haul his pile away. I have 2 more of those fence concrete weights. My hinny was dragging and I could not left the last 2. Neighbor man told me to leave it the crew will get it. Whew relaxing now. Yikes, no more whining( maybe a little more) about my taxes. Take care and hug your sweetheart. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Glad you are safe with minimal damage. Yikes, those property taxes are rediculously expensive!
We had just messy debris, leaves and limbs. The empty lots beside us and across from us lost a tree. Most of our debris comes from the empty lots. We only have one tree in the very back that was here when we moved in. Now we wait for Milton, hopefully he won’t cause much trouble here, but sadly he will somewhere. Prayers for those🙏🙏. I hope it weakens from what they’re saying. Take care, think of me if you build a bonfire 😊 Sheila
