Pic of the day;
For today:
Mrs. Flemming's 4th grade had been covering the subject of Governments. She said some refer to the USA as a Democracy, but it is really a Republic.
“A democracy, "she said, “The majority of the
citizens make the rules and laws, the minorities rights are not always
protected. Now the Republic is close to the same, however laws are made by
representatives chosen by the people BUT must comply with a constitution that
protects the rights of the minority from the will of the majority.”
The class discussed ideas and decided they
should have a Class President elected by the majority. Bobby and Betty Jean
were pushed forward as the candidates. Mrs. Fleming said, “tomorrow just before
dismissal the two candidates will state why they should be President. You will
have the evening to think about it and the next morning we will have our vote.
The next day they were all excited. At 3PM
Bobby was first. He spoke well, saying he would like to appoint a VP and a
secretary. He explained the duties of each. I have other ideas, and I would appreciate
your vote.
Then it was Betty Jean’s time. “You all know
where I live. If you promise to vote for me, come to my house at 6PM and have
all the Ice Cream and candy you want. Thank you for voting for me. See you
this evening.”
The next day Betty Jean won by a landslide. Many Politicians learned from Betty Jean’s
policies, give and promise more than the other guy and you can win….
Even citizens who listen and buy all the
promises (from both sides) do not expect them all to be completed, it is the thought that counts,
methinks. LOL
Thanks for reading. Most of us have
been around long enough to know NOBODY can satisfy everyone. We don’t have the
same values and goals as our acquaintances. It would be pitiful to lose dear friends
because you disagree on something neither of you could change, EVEN if your life depended
on it.
YOU my friend cannot change the amt of state or
federal tax on your auto fuel. You can’t change the speed limit!
I have had people very close to me say, “The government is NOT going to tell me what to do!” In my mind I ask, do you live under a rock?
When I first started driving no insurance was
required to drive a car. Later our elected representatives decided in order to
protect all drivers EVERYONE must have liability Insurance. I didn’t like
it, but I now have liability Ins, you do too, if you drive.
Do I think all our Representatives are great
people? NO, but I do believe the majority have our interest at heart and are
NOT intentionally crooks.
BUT that is my opinion, I will vote! I will vote my conscience, you should too.

PS
Thanks for all the visits.
LOL I am glad this voting season is
over, I would bet you that watch TV certainly are. I will watch my Representatives in Congress and vote accordingly… Love all you guys…

I don't know that I'm more amused or angered by others' comments. Personally, I'm delighted by the outcome, but there have been days I felt devastated.
IMHO, this lady said it best: "I don’t believe my vote is a love letter to a specific candidate. It’s not a wholesale support for their every personality trait, every policy decision, or every personnel appointment.
It never has been. My vote is a chess move for the kind of world I want to live in."
I agree with Mevely.
Beware of politicians that promise ice cream.
A politician approached me in the street during our election and asked me, "Tell me Sir, do you believe in free speech?"
I thought carefully and said, "Yes, of course!"
He then said, "Good, can I borrow your cell-phone to make a call?"
God bless.
