Scars and fashion

Interesting Cars:
This one people joked: Is it coming or going?

Now:
Most humans have a scar or two. I have met people who have scars and cannot remember the cause.  I can look at the pinky on my right hand and see a diagonal scar across one joint. That is one of my earliest memories. It was caught in the door of dad’s 1941 Chevrolet. I think my sister slammed the door. I remember I sure cried as mama taped it back together.

I have two small scar points on the same hand from a water moccasin bite when I was 13. A scar on my knee from 14 when falling on a bike trying to jump a ditch like Roger Slack. I have an adult scar on my upper leg. I was on a roof cutting a shingle and the razor knife slipped. No stitches were ever applied to any cuts and only one could have used some, but just taping it closed, allowed a good scar, ;-).

Funny thing about boys, they are usually proud of scars no matter how visible they are. Girls not so much. Most girls want them danged things covered up with clothes or makeup. Sherry is hoping she has no scar on her pretty leg from the last surgery.

Boys also were never concerned about patches or tears in pants or shirts, girls cared a lot.  Well until the style of torn pants came about anyway. Now it is cool. Hey even friend Lisa of http://www.lifeawayfromtheofficechair.com/ has a great shot of her in torn jeans. She is pretty cute too. I see no scars though!

That reminds me, we met ‘Alligator Ed’ once at Lake Manatee in Florida. He was selling ‘Shot-gunned Levis’ for $85. He bought them new ($15) hung them up and shot them with ‘00’ buck shot ($.25). I am sure anyone could do their own much cheaper (as long as they weren’t wearing them at the time of the shot.)

I am a lucky dude

The Convertible

And now:
Can you imagine how much money I have saved on haircuts and dye?

Hey, then there are combs and they don’t come cheap. I haven’t bought and lost a comb in years. And now I could drive a convertable at 60 and not worry about my hair. I need to think about getting a rag top!

The money I have saved us on the cost of shampoo and water to wash my hair would be way up there. I no longer have to buy ***Brylcream (A little dab will do you, simply rub a little on your hair).

No longer does the wind mess up my handsome looks with messed up hair. I haven’t had to have two mirrors to make sure my ‘Duck’s Tail’ is combed right. My hair never gets in my eyes!

Shucks In and out the shower in 10 minutes, no hair dryer  to waste electricity, just some Vaseline to shine the dome. I must be getting rich, think of all that money I have saved!
(Picture shows a ball of hail from 2018 as bald as I) I know lots of men are envious of me. (maybe some women!)  LOL

PS: ***Fay Lovsky – A Little Dab'll Do Ya Lyrics

Brylcreem brylcreem brylcreem!
Brylcreem - a little dab'll do ya
Brylcreem - you look so debonair
Brylcreem - the girls will all pursue ya
They love to get their fingers in your hair!

It seems to me the last line was:
Simply rub a little in your hair!

I want the answer now! (LOL)

An American car
Taken to jail, must be charged with using that newfangled typewriter while driving.

And now:
I am very guilty. When faced with a problem large or small, I want the answer, NOW! So I work my head to try and find the ‘correct’ one. I try to do it logically by looking at what I see as ‘all’ reasonable options and make a multiple choice sort of list.  At times I have missed an option, and Sherry (or someone) points it out.
Most minor decisions I am also guilty of trying to work them out on my own without bothering God. (Contrary to mama and daddy’s advice) OUCH. My rationale, He has endowed me with common sense, and I should use that gift.
I think I have been guided thru life many times. Now to be sure God has never just came out and told me like he did Mr. Moses, “Go tell old Pharaoh to let my people go!” (I just heard that song in my head! LOL)
I look back over my life and I have NEVER faced some of the MAJOR obstacles MANY of you have. But I have watched humans in my 80+ years.  We gauge problems by the list of past battles we have fought physically and mentally. And it seems that the present one is always the worst.
Forgive me I’m using this blog as a sounding board. I appreciate every comment, but please do not feel obligated to do so today.  Just smile at my oncoming senility.
I may finish this later. If I figure what I am talking about. I have read over 25 western books in the last few weeks. I think I am saying, “Maybe it is time to see the Hostler and stable the horse. Then find a café or saloon, have a Sarsaparilla or one of ‘em new drinks called Koka-cola!” And just ‘Relapse’.

PS: None of my problems at present are life threatening nor is there financial doom on the horizon, but the older I get the bigger a small mountain gets.  I knew things would be harder to lift and balance physically with age, BUT I did not believe things would be harder mentally, but they are.

I'm gonna miss somethings

Unique vehicle:
                        A railroad trike
                       A boat for the road

For today:

I miss seeing a steam engine.

(that is a 1953 Buick special waiting)

I'm going to miss a round clock...
I learned to tell time on a watch/clock with hands. There was a time when someone asked, “What time is it?” I glanced at my watch and the minute hand was between 10-15, but closer to 15 my answer would be ‘about 15 after 2.  Now I look at my watch and say 2:13.  With and analog watch I seldom gave time between the numbers. i.e. 10:26.

I learned how to tighten a bolt it was Clock-wise. To loosen a bolt it was counter-clock-wise.  With the digital clock those make no sense.

I hate to see the incandescent bulbs disappear. Ever read the instructions on one of the new bulbs?  It makes me feel I need to call disaster control to get rid of a useless bulb.  I accidentally dropped and broke a new LED bulb the other day and there was another bulb inside, true. I hope it wasn’t pregnant.

I am not really fond of plastic replacing steel in my car.  I was a do-it-yourself body repair man most of my life. Lately I had a small ding on the plastic and went to the paint shop to match the paint, his question was, for plastic or metal? I asked, “Is there a difference?”

“Oh yes, you must use a special undercoat or it will split and chip on you.” Plastic contracts and expands more than metal. He was right I did it wrong and the ‘fix’ looked terrible two months later.
I am sure seamstresses must pay attention to their threads for the many different fabrics now. They probably take it in stride, it would frustrate me.

Car license plates remain steel methinks.  I am wondering when just a bar code will be there to be scanned by cameras and law enforcement? One scan will give car and owner complete DNA.
