For today:

It takes a genius to turn a 93%+ profit on his finished product.

Much of my family drinks bottled water; as does most of society today. Me? I still use water fountains when one is near. I have no fear drinking water from our faucet. I assume that nowadays most folk drink bottled water. I am not here to throw stones, but to clarify ME. I have consumed water in over 20 countries, GITMO and several ships. I cannot remember drinking in Mexico, but knowing me I might have. Dentists there provide bottled water (for USA Citizens) for rinsing your mouth after work is completed.

It is publicized that water in Mexico is dangerous, but I didn’t see dead bodies lying around.  (Yeah that is sarcastic!) I understand one can consume something bad for them and built up a tolerance for it.

As a kid I drank from rivers, creeks and springs along with my dog. Now the rivers are cleaner than when I was a kid.

 I don’t see the reason to pay more for something to be bottled, that comes from my faucet.  I am not sure if folks give bottled water to their pets.  I am not sure who uses the ice made by your refrigerator from city/well water.

(NOTE)If water for sale does not cross state lines it is not controlled by the FDA.

Most companies that make and sell ice use the water from city or well lines. Cities monitor their water daily and MUST notify the citizenry if it falls below standards.

Bottle water in the USA is a 5.4++ Billion dollar business. Environmentalists, should think of the plastic that adds to our environment. (80% of containers are NOT recycled!) WE in the USA consume an average of 44-58 gallons of bottled water per year. Someone is drinking mine. LOL

For us there are exceptions, in an area where sulfur water is prominent or the water has a bad smell, I still do not fear it, just prefer not to smell it. LOL, If you are around it long enough you tolerate it and later just ignore it. We did that in Biloxi, MS when we lived there. At one time Florida had some stinking drinking water.

Now don’t get me wrong here. I don’t care if you boil every drop of water you consume. It doesn’t bother me if you only drink bottled water.  But please don’t look at me like I am drinking snake venom if I drink out of a water fountain or garden hose. ;-) I have survived over 82 years now. LOL

PS:  However, I sure would have enjoyed the profits in business that the water bottlers of today do (wish I had thought of it!  ;-)).

PS2: There are some folks who say I am just cheap! (There could be something to that. LOL)

For today:

I was somewhere in the Med or the Atlantic Ocean, I think. I heard about the Russian satellite, THE FIRST SPACE THING! It was a ball about the size of a beach ball and weighed about 180 lbs. Many people thought, “LOL, BIG DEAL!”

This morning, accidentally Sherry had the TV on. The Bezo’s flight was on TV, Blue Origins, AMAZING.  Yeah I know, it was a rich man’s joy ride, but what an amazing thing. Yes the money could have been spent to feed millions, Yes homes for the homeless could have been built, etc.  BUT I am sure if you checked the rich man’s records he has donated much to charities.

Okay, he did donate 100 million to ‘Feed America’ but to top that he donated $10 BILLION to charities.

Hey it is his money, I am not telling him where to spend it.

Okay, now back to this space thing. From the little satellite to landing on the moon, yeah, I know I am ignorant, I believe we landed on the moon. Now, to some space travel and maybe more cures for diseases by using space laboratories and more than my little brain can comprehend.

I guess I can understand someone doubting historical events. BUT, but, Can you imagine how many HUMANS must be involved in KEEPING A SECRET as big as some of the conspiracy theories?  Do we ever think of the millions of writers and reporters who would LOVE to break a story that would get them a Pulitzer? Some would give their right arm for it.  That old axiom “The only way to keep a SECRET is for only one person to know the it, when someone else knows, it will be exposed somewhere down the road….. Try to Consider THOUSANDS of closed mouth humans, “REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR, now REMEMBER DEEP THROAT, That story took a president down.

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS. The wording bothered some righteous people, but can you imagine the thoughts of Eisenhower and everyone who saw, first hand, the results of the holocaust. He said in disgust:

I feel Unnecessary

For today:

I have never heard anyone say that but my mama. She would day that and then break out laughing. But for a couple days now I have ‘Felt Unnecessary,’ LOL. Just sorta BLAA, lethargic, I guess?

But today it was raining, I opened the basement garage doors, Ace, Deuce and Trey dropped out of the underside of the Motor home and ran thru the rain to the open doors. I’m sure they climb up on the engine to sleep when they refuse to come in the basement at night.

 I picked a couple things to ‘fix’.  First was a new ladder that someone had lost on the interstate. Jack Jr. picked it up after a couple cars ran over it. (I am not sure how I would react at 65mph, if I had to try and dodge a large item like a ladder in the road.) 

As I was doing the repairs the kitties were playing at my feet. Ace was even climbing my leg like it was a tree. I kep working and ignoring them then noticed they were gone. I am putting 4 pictures up, it was nap time, one of where they chose to nap  and the other showing them awake when I started repairs on my tiller.

Ace chose the John Deere

 

Deuce and Trey chose a spot in my scrap lumber.

 

My noises don’t bother them as much, they used to run to places unknown at the sound of a saw or vacuum.

 

Oh, Grandson Steve and wife, Jennifer, stopped by for a visit. Kennedy the youngest child picked up the remote and asked, “What does this turn on?”

Stephen, pointing to me, “Ask Grandpa.”  She turned and walked passed me.

Stephen, “Where are you going Kennedy?”

“To find a real grandpa.” And she went looking for her Grandpa Jack Jr. LOL

For today:

I know NOTHING about flea collars. They did not exist when I was a kid nor when our boys had dogs.  I AM familiar with ‘Flea Powder!’ I guess that is harmful to humans and pets since I cannot see it anywhere.

So I ask Mr. Google the question, “How long does it take the flea collar to start working?”

I wanted the answer like, “Three days and then five days the kitty will be Flea Free!”

No such answer. Of course like government, lots of if ands and buts. LOL So I will just wait and hope the kitties quit scratching constantly SOON.  AND YES, of course I want INSTANT results, doesn’t everyone?  LOL

BTW all cats were out of the basement last night, no one wanted to come in. LOL

More people must be reading e-books now. Very few folks looked at the books. WE did have a complete set of Laura Engles writings, they sold for 10 cents each. The lady paid more.. A sample of the prices. Books 10 cents each or 12 for a dollar hardback or paperback. Clothes including coats 25 cents. LOL Practically new Singer $5.

Sherry got to see a cousin, The Rev Reid Harris. She had not seen in many moons. That is a home town thing. He also is a pastor nearby and VERY TALL over 6.5 feet. That made her day. We got to see the wife and family also.

There are some benefits to yard sales.

PS: Son Jack asked, "Dad did you read the instructions on the flea collars.?"

Me, "No!"

"Did you  stretch the collars?"

"NO!"

He retrieved the instructions from the trash and read to me: "You must stretch the collar to activate the insecticide!"

"Uh OH!"

Okay, I have now!  LOL.... Now I hope I can see some results. (as I palm my face!)

  Memorable Automobiles from The Past:

 Grandson Josh sent me this picture a while back.... Love it.

For today:

We took a full trailer and car to the yard sale. Lights were on in houses as we drove out. People get up at 5 and 6 AM in the mornings. I had forgotten that.  LOL

Yard sales must be becoming a thing of the past. It was near 7:30-8:30 before folks started showing up. The traffic was light. Most of our prices were 10, 25 and 50 cents. I heard a lady on the phone telling someone to come over, that we had the best prices on the yard, and we did. LOL

I had the trailer as a table also, you can see the books just behind Sherry.

We only brought back two or three things. We did take a load of clothes and books to Goodwill.

Our friend Elka was there and during slack time we had a chance to talk. I asked what age she immigrated to the USA, she said she was 13 (She is about 70 yrs old now.) She said she was almost ready to graduate. At that time, in the 1950s she said that school only went to the 8^th grade in Germany.

WE took some clothes of hers to Goodwill also. OOOHm But look at the tomatoes she brought us, the one in the middle we grew. LOL!

PS: I did not take the trains out of the car. I will have to give it a little more thought. However after telling some of my friends about them, I hd laughig offers of $10-$15 even $25; since I had first thought of $25 as a good price. LOL

For today:

I have the trailer loaded and ready to leave out at 6 in the morning (if I wake up, or Sherry wakes me up.) It has been a task but I think I am ready.  I have priced every thing.

I ran across an old Lionel Train, remember them. I said to myself, I may as well put this in for $25, after all it is a collector’s item.

 

This the first box, it is complete.

Just for fun I checked Google, Mr. Google said someone has that little engine on sale by itself for $800! WHAT?

So I had second thoughts. I am putting all my train stuff there just in case a collector comes by, but this time it is $250.00. LOL

I am a logical person, if someone says that or this item is worth $300.00. I say it isn’t worth doodle if there are no buyers……

Anyway the kitties finally let me close the trailer down and have it ready to hook up in the morning.

 

 With Sherry's help we got flea collars on the kitties and mama.

2. I named the cats one, two and Three. Sherry thought it would be nicer if I called them Ace, Deuce and Trey.  Ace and Trey are the Toms.........

For today:

I know I am the only one that wants to get rid of STUFF but don’t know how. Well the church is having a yard sale this Saturday and I asked for a table. SO I did obligate myself to MOVE some STUFF.

Now what to get rid of, HA, that is sorta a joke around here.  But I now have a trailer full of stuff and you cannot tell one thing is gone.  I will probably make a million dollars…………… maybe $12.00, if someone will buy it. LOL.

 

At least the kitties are having fun, this is Ace and Trey.

The cats are enjoying my effort. I told them they could come to see if anyone wanted them but they refused.

What my friend Sonny said

For today:

I have two close friends from my youth. We went our separate ways at 16-17 yrs of age. Later in life, we all developed friends in the areas we lived but still remained in touch. I am pretty sure if I needed them, they would be there for me.

Later in life as I spent a lot of time in the military and would come home on leave I became very good friends with Sherry‘s sister Colette’s husband, Sonny Helms.

Towards the end of my military career we were fortunate to find a house one block from Sonny and Colette. Sonny and I became even closer. In fact he was my best friend.  We had so much in common that our different views on religious affiliations and politics, were NEVER a problem.

He was a friend I could discuss ANYTHING with and I know it would go no further. There are lots of people who NEVER have that kind of friend, and I feel sorry for them. I think of him every day and miss him.

We were married to sisters and our wives were our top priority. I said that to enforce the next couple statements he made to me.

Sonny and Colette

Just after the death of his sweetheart we talked for hours. He was devastated. Once driving around he looked over at me and out of the blue, nothing to do with our ongoing conversation he said, “You probably think I am the worst Christian in the world, but If I just KNEW she was with Jesus, if I could see her there, I could sleep better.”

Of course I told him I had never known a better man nor Christian, and I have no doubt I would feel the same way.

WE had many talks, but I remember a couple weeks later we were in his porch swing, just he and I. You had to have known that couple to understand, that porch swing had hung on their porch over 40 years. They spent hours swinging and talking. They were a fixture in the neighborhood, everyone knew them and they knew everyone.

Anyway as we sat there tears started to flow as that giant of a man said, “Jack, I have settled in my mind that Colette is in a better place and is happy, BUT I DON’T CARE. I know it is impossible and selfish, but I want her back!”

I told him I had no idea how he felt, I had never been in his place, but I just knew God understood his feelings and dilemma; I sure did.

I know my buddy would not mind me repeating that. Faith is easy to talk about until the rubber meets the road. Just sayin’.

I sure miss that guy, he was the best.
