Treasures

Not enough time to put thoughts together for the rest of our time in Rutherfordton and leaving so this is a fill in. Thanks for reading…

For years I thought those Storage businesses were a waste of money. But over the years I have learned we citizens of the USA have so much stuff, we are willing to pay from $30 to $200 a month to store stuff we are not going to use, BUT it is our stuff! Treasures.  Things that will one day be valuable treasures we are protecting to pass down to our lucky children. They will be used, sold or thrown away.

I always think someone would buy a storage building rather than pay monthly. But I finally realized everyone does not have land or a place to put a storage building. Sooooo if we keep stuff it goes into a storage building because we cannot think of getting rid of it.

Once my friend Vondale and a close friend wanted to clean out their basements. They finally decided the only way to do it was swap basements for a day and clean it out. Von Dale said it was so much easier to through someone else’s stuff away.

He also said he was surprised that he did not miss the stuff that was taken from his basement.  Yeah, odd I know, but my friend can be that way at times.

Do you have too much stuff and don’t know what to do with it?

Thanks for stopping by.

I think we all have too much stuff and not enough storage.

I try real hard to declutter but I always come across many things that I refuse to part with for some reason or another.

For years we had two storage stalls. Now we are down to one.

We are in process of moving - I had enough 'stuff' for ten houses! And I still have too much stuff! lol

Thankfully I do have room here at home for all my stuff and don't need to rent a space to keep it in, but I do have too much of it regardless. I am always making plans to rid it out, but it's still there and I'm thinking it's not going anywhere fast. Although it bothers my kids that its still there I don't mind in the least. The good news is that I'm not adding anything to it! The sun is out and it's getting close to 50 today. no snow in sight for a few days either. Have a good visit with your friends. Happy Sunday!

We have way to much stuff, ha. We have plenty of storage buildings, but they're filled up with lawn mowers. We have 3 good riding mowers, that is if Grover gets that one fixed. I have way to much furniture just can't part with it, ha. It's raining here today. Take care, Jean.

I personally don't have a lot of stuff that I don't need or use but I live in a house with someone that has a lot of stuff he still needs to go through and decide what he'll keep, what he will give away of his parents. We'll see what he does, but a few days ago he did mention its time to clear out more stuff. We'll see if it happens.

I have stored at times things in storage units but came to the realization why pay someone to store stuff I may or may not use again; so my motto is not to have to put anything into storage like that if at all possible. Just money going out every month that can be used for other things :)

Watching The Hoarders helps me a lot. Every time I watch it before it's over I'm thinking of things I can get rid of but I still have too much but don't rent a unit, but have in the past.

I know you remember the 5 building
and 2 houses we had to clean out plus antique cars. Have you seen my basement..I still have stuff but not as much. I think most is Christmas, Halloween and Easter decorations.

I remember the parking lot sale
we had and someone ask who they
paid for the things they bought.
They thought is was a neighbor
sale..You said this is one persons and one cashier. We did get rid of
lots of things and I an thankful.

Clever way to clear out the "junk" - swap basements!

That is one snowed-in Studebaker in that last photo!
