Flying cars YES! ..... Wait, I am reconsidering!!

A flying car of the day:

For today:

It just OCCURRED to me.  If a bunch of us get flying cars, hey, we could get killed. In the sky there ain’t no fender benders where folks pull over to the side and fuss at each other.  You both will probably fall from the sky like the duck who meets the duck hunter who can shoot.

Up there in the sky there is no shoulder of the road to pull over to with a flat tire or a propeller that flies off.

I used to want a flying car but the more I think of it, I better leave the ‘flying’ to the professionals.  LOL  Sherry wouldn’t go with me anyway and there ain’t no way I could fly this motor home and get 8 miles per gallon.

Some kids had imaginary friends. Me? I had an imaginary plane. It was a little fellow. Not much bigger than a pedal car with wings, but that sucker was like a jet plane before jet planes existed. I flew all over the world. I guess that is why I wanted a flying car. As a matter of fact I invented one in my book, “Ace and Me,” for a short flight.

That was the part one proofer did not like, but we kept it anyway. LOL

As a kid I had a 50 gallon barrel that both ends had been cut out. It was like a big short pipe. With it lying on its side, a friend and I would get in and I would fly us around. We sorta curled up and rocked it back and forth as we flew. LOL Most of the time I just flew solo. ;-)

Life sure moves on, that was back in 1945-46.

I like bloggers' childhood stories. Myra does some good ones. I liked Mama & the Indian Reservation and travels. Susan did a good one lately on ‘Fire in the Trees’ and the snow. Gary goes back to his childhood some. I enjoy it.

… Miracle week.

Flying car of the day:

(Posting early, hope the 'click' works, off to the grocery store!)

For today:  It is a miracle this wooden puppet can sing so well without moving his boss's mouth. LOL This was sent to me by old friend Jim Page of Valdese.

It is likely you have seen this already, it has been viewed millions of times. It interests me because I like ventriloquists.  Even had my own Puppet George, at times.  Did you  know that Barney Fife got his start as a Ventriloquist?

Anyway this yanked my chain.  If you have seen it already, or for some reason it doesn't play, I tried, come back soon! This is the week of Miracles. God Bless!

Do you get it?

The flying Car:

Will flying cars become common place?  I thought so a one time.

For today:

An angel appears at a faculty meeting and tells the dean that in return for his unselfish and exemplary behavior, the Lord will reward him with his choice of infinite wealth, infinite wisdom, or infinite beauty.

Without hesitating, the dean selects infinite wisdom.

“Done!” says the angel, and disappears in a cloud of smoke and a bolt of lightning.

Now, all heads turn toward the dean, who sits surrounded by a faint halo of light. At length, one of his colleagues whispers,

“Say something.”

The dean sighs and says, “I should have taken the money.”

Do you get it? I sat after reading that joke and it finally hit me. That New Wisdom told the dean, wisdom is personal. Because in reality it is hard to get someone to listen.  With infinite wealth he could build colleges and spread intelligence.

I know it is a joke and not reality!

BUT, but have you ever been very good at some trade, hobby, personal skill, etc. and try to honestly impart that knowledge to someone who ‘Already knows everything?’

Like Sherry, I know some of you that have ‘typed’ at your jobs; you probably remember when a few documents you typed could contain NO ‘corrections,’ i.e. no correction tape nor white-out. I cannot imagine being THAT GOOD on a typewriter. When I first started dealing with attorneys an error on a document meant 30 minutes while it was retyped. Typists today have no idea what a GOD_SENT word processors are.

(I really did not search these files often, but I did do it.)

Our attorney now, Vickie Whit-----, will ask, “Do I need to add another name to the deed or document if so, it will only take a second.”  We have made changes and never delayed a closing. Not to mention printing it in as many colors as you like!!!

Actually the word processor IS Amazing, at least for those who remember typewriters WITH the carbon paper, correction paper and that all important WHITE-OUT. I have known clerks who had to type 4 pages with carbon between and fix errors on all copies

At times we sorta forget that some science is ALMOST a miracle.

But THE REAL Miracle was over 2000 years ago and lay in a manger.

                 Merry Christmastime

PS:

Vickie is an amazing attorney. She is wise and witty. Her ‘closings’ were never a drag nor boring. I once asked her if I could bring Granddaughter Sherece to a closing so she could see a ‘FEMALE’ at work at a profession. I did and Sherece even enjoyed the closing. Sherece has followed in her mother’s footsteps and is doing well in import/export.

This 'lie' is good

Memorable Automobiles from The Past:

Rose, blogger now gone, sent me this '41 Mercury shot. Long ago..

I miss Rose and her New England 'accent.'

For today:

For some reason, probably because I did not really study in English Class, but I am not too good at Scrabble.  But when I misspell a word, at times I smile at the difference one letter makes.

What typing I do is self-taught. I was forced to learn in the USAF when I was assigned to the MARS Network (Military Auxiliary Radio System).  Most folks have never heard of it. But it is a part of the ‘Ham Radio’ Emergency system in the world. It was set up long before satellite communications to keep communications intact during national emergencies and hurricanes etc.

Anyway I misspell or skip letters in words. Therefore the title of this entry. 'Lie'is good! Just yesterday as I often do, I ended my comment with “Lie is Good!” then noticed the BIG difference one letter makes. Of course it should be “LIFE is good” and most folks would have caught it.

There are comment corrections sent and received that say, “I meant to say “DID NOT” rather than DID.”

(Gotta love Lily)

So I am not the only one that drops words when in a hurry typing. The spell check does not correct words that are spelled correctly but used wrong. (It does however get its and it’s) I do have a program for writers that ‘tries’ to ID any misused words, but it is NOT fool proof. (I cannot remember the name of the APP now.)

Example: Above I noticed I had typed ‘drips’ when I meant ‘drops’ just above this.

I remember an old saying “What a difference a day makes!”  Now I am thinking with this blog entry, “What a difference a letter makes!”

Lately I am typing ‘out’ when I mean ‘our’, I catch it a lot, but I am sure I miss some.

Do you have any specific ‘recurring errors’ typing?

ME AGAIN! Personal story...

 Memorable car of the day:

    '67 Plymouth Barracuda

For today:

Once I was teaching Naval Intelligence. During a tough family time, they were already relocated 500 miles away, months before. I told my commanding officer I was leaving the next day, (going AWOL) and would become a deserter. I am headed to the mountains of NC and get lost. You will need to get someone to cover my classes. The lesson plans are on my desk.

His words to me, “I will bust your ass!”

I said, “Sir with all due respect, I have already talked to Legal, you cannot bust me, it takes an act of Congress to do that and I don’t think you have that pull.” And I walked out.

Back ground, I had made a request for transfer, serious family matter (son related). I was told it was approved. I had waited months and nothing happened, I was leaving. The reasons were very involved and ‘I KNEW I was right!’

(Sometimes we ignore the Obvious, I guess not all things are obvious!))

While clearing out my desk, the XO (Executive Officer) came in, “The skipper has reconsidered, would you talk to a chaplain? Your records show you are Protestant, but the Catholic Chaplain is the only one available.”

“Sure, no problem I am not leaving until in the morning I must turn in my room and gear.” I replied 'respectfully snide.'

To shorten the story, the Chaplain had made some phone calls and we had a good logical conversation.  He must have been Victor’s hero, Father Ignatius, because I left in a better frame of mind and with the Chaplain’s promise that the transfer was deserved and would be done in a few weeks. It was longer, but I had cooled down.

I said ALL that to say this, “I was upset, I KNEW I was right  and was willing to throw away my military career of 16/17 years just to prove it. Once the chaplain pointed out I was throwing away a career. A job I loved, just to PROVE A POINT! Funny that, he did it without trying to make ME feel stupid. He was very wise in his choice of words (Very important).  I have thought many times, maybe he was  inspired? Coulda been.”

When you are ‘younger’ and KNOW IT ALL, you think you need to prove something. There are men in service refusing to take the vaccine, to make a point.

There is someone I love dearly, who is thinking of giving up his job with benefits, the best job he has ever had. One that has with it ‘benefits’ that will carry on if he stays a few more years before quitting. Millions of people have taken the shot. Of the multiple millions, despite all the stories of thousands dying,  3or4 deaths (that I could find) have occurred related directly to the shot. There are ill effects. But the benefits outweigh the downside. IMHO

(At times humans won't listen)

My Dr. suggested I take the shot so I did. I agree with the order for the military. We have had ships unable to operate efficiently due to the illness. WE cannot afford that. Do I agree with orders to civilians? NO!  But if I had a good job I would swallow my pride and take it. BUT THAT IS ME!

In many cases that could be cutting off your nose to spite your face. (one of mama's sayings!)

Backing up to NC for a minute

 Memorable Automobiles from The Past:

1950  Chevy coupe the first car we had when we married. In '56

UPdate:
The plant in the entry is blurred, but Buddy just emailed me to say it is a Lantana. Looks like a miniature bouquet of tine flowers. Beautiful.

For today:

It is no joke, Sherry & I do have a good time together. She even knows how to take a joke (at times! ;-)).

Anyway I thought in retrospect I would let you know that we really do know about fall and winter.  While my sweetheart was ‘studying’ for those medical tests, then enjoying taking them, I was busy outside.

This is what we drove into at the NC home. Remember those leaves you guys raked or watched lay.  We accumulated some more while we were gone. When we left Sherry & I had cleared all this area.

Even around the Blue headed dragon. It is growing ‘scales’ by the way, some type of fungus or mushrooms and adds to his character.

I got to work and hauled loads to the woods on a tarp.

Oh yes, Tom (Tiger 1) and his Sister Scaredy-cat were happy to have me back. I spent some time in the swing with Tom. He sure likes to snuggle. They definitely haven’t gone hungry. Michelle and Richard keeps them fed. I left 22 lbs of food for ‘em.

They are tame Feral cats.
We are missing at least 3 kitties, but that is Ferals I guess.

Finally back to Florida. I was out by the grapefruit tree and a bush growing at the base with some beautiful little colorful flowers.  Here is one.

This is my pretty flower holding that little flower…

NiteShipslog

PS  I have a wild imagination. I love t see forms in clouds, mountains, trees and buses as I drive.  Here I saw a dinosaur waiting for us as we started across Jacksonville Bay,Florida.

Ok we are home, is this our 2nd or 3rd home?

 Memorable car of the day:

1955 Dodge Custom Lancer (3 tone)

                    For today:

We have our home in NC and of course the Motor Home. Now we have bought a trailer in Leesburg, FL. Mainly for a place to park the motor home. Yeah I know it ain’t smart and doesn’t make any sense.

But not much of MY life has made sense, so I guess it is the same old, same old.

When we buy and use a place down here we usually get our money back out of it.  We never invest a lot. If you look long enough here you can find something reasonable. You cannot do that back up in Belmont, NC.

Anyway we are home.  Most likely we will live in the coach and use the trailer as a bath house and or wash house. There is better washer/dryer in the trailer.

Son Mark has sold his house in Port Richey and will say with us until he decides what he is going to do.

I just wanted all to know that we made the trip fine. I did not hit anyone, no cars nor trucks. I think folks dodge me when they see this old man driving. LOLO

Merry Christmastime.
