Now to storage

Material was delivered today for our storage building.  Once it is built we can get my 'stuff' out of the way.  This is a little of my inside stuff:

This is some of my outside stuff.

(I do clean this area up every other day!)

Son Mark came over and brought a washer and dryer.  We went out for pizza.  Upon return he helped me get the  storage building started.  He insisted I needed to cut a limb that was over the building. So we stopped construction while he argued with the tree limb until it was too dark to work.

We start again in the morning.

I am enjoying one neighbor especially. Mr. Valentine. He isn't actually a neighbor, but his daughter and hubby have bought the house and he is helping them remodel, so he and I have a lot in common.  He is a very personable guy.  We are thrilled with the nice folk we have met here as neighbors and in the businesses.

Even the Lowes delivery guy, Angel, although he was late due to equipment problems, was very nice and apologized. He placed the material exactly where I asked.

Anyway we will go out for breakfast in the morning, then by Lowes for screws nails and saw blades.

I am continually pleased at meeting so many nice folk and realizing we aren't really headed for Hell in a handbasket, and every one you  meet is not out to take you.  Most folk are just good people. I like that feeling.

Curtains mean you are close to the finish

Yep, Sherry bought a bed spread and a curtain for Bedroom #1 and  valence for the kitchen. First, a bath tub report. The do it yourself kit is only good for someone who can use a spray can backwards. LOL The tub came out okay, but I did get a 'small run' (Mark said 'Dad that is a WAVE"). I did okay on the back wall, ends and bottom, BUT spraying that inside wall of the tub was too tough when you cannot lean on the tub (ha).  Anyway it is good enough for what we wanted. When this gives out I will replace the tub. There is the bathroom:

Sherry was sweet and bought a mat to cover my 'wave'.
Actually I am fairly happy with the job, it it just holds up.

Sherry's Bedroom #1, I think she did well!

The kitchen looks good also. The small cabinets we added just past the refrig in a small corner will hold enough groceries methinks.

Remember the silver duck work in the corner.  It is hid now by the box  above the refrigerator. You can look past the Refrigerator ans see the small cabinets we added. Sherry added the 'apple'  valence above her new double sink. That is a very small kitchen. (But, but we are used to also having our dining room suit in that much space. LOL)

Yeah, when the lady of the house says we need rugs and curtains, you know you are about there.  LOL

Today I also extended the RV sewer 10 feet and dug a ditch and run conduit for electrical plus water for the coach in its eventual parking spot.

Tomorrow material for my playhouse, 12x16 storage building.  Hopefully soon the paving man sill be caught up and get us a drive.

No Blog Entry

I am drawing a blank.

Update here.  We bought two small unfinished cabinets 1 foot square and 30 inches high with a shelf.

I have painted them and they are ready to install.
I am sleeping as I type, so I am off to bed with Sherry, m
'lady.
Good nite.

Pictures tomorrow, I hope. I extended the sewer line and opened the bathroom tub.

Every day is good, some even better

It is too late to Blog, but here I am. LOL  I have been working on a material list for the storage building.  I decided on a 12x16. So actually ordering on line 'ain't no fun', to the old carpenter.  Many things do not have the same 'name or nomenclature' I am used to.

Anyway, I think I had it, I wanted a copy and my ink said, 'hu oh, sorry I am out!'  I used to re-ink my cartridges until the machines smartened up and won' accept it.

Anyway the day was good. Mark helped me tie up some loose ends, then he had Sherry's spaghetti with us, then he and Janie headed for New Port Richie.  His realtor called and said they had a contract.
(Great GRandma letting Jude drive the motor home. a few months ago)

At the end of all RESIDENTIAL construction there is what is referred to as the "PUNCH OUT LIST". We are that close, today after Mark left we did a punch out list, room by room.

In the kitchen we decided we needed to work out something for more storage. The  kitchen is small, friend MaryAnn calls this size a 'Butt-rubbing Kitchen'.  Anyway I found a 12" x 12" area 6' high. That is enough shelving area for groceries methinks, so I will install a SMALL cabinet.

Hope you had a great day.  Sending everyone who reads this LOVE and thanks for stopping by. Pictures coming soon.  I remove the masking on the bathtub in the morrow.

A trip to the beach

Son Mark stopped by today to help  on the house. He lives on the West coast but had been in Melbourne to help re-install a fence after the Hurricane. He helped me finish burying the sewer line I had installed for the future use of the motor home. We hung two closet doors and did a little painting.

Sherry fixed one of his favorite meals: Pinto beans, cornbread, lettuce slaw and salmon patties.  We did take a couple breaks and talked. He and his mother decided we were gong to the beach to see how it had fared. So after work and showers we headed for New Smyrna Beach. Sherry and Mark in the front,  Janie and me in the back seat.

It wasn't a long ride, I love petting Janie. Like Rick and Jilda's latest dog, Janie is deaf, she will love you to pieces, She even gives me a little sugar.
When the car slows down she askes, "Are we at the beach yet?"
Yes! And here on the boardwalk, over looking the beach Janie  could not take her eyes off the beach for a picture, so Mark and Sherry turned too:
Very little damage was still apparent. The beach areas depend on tourists, they get back to normal as soon as possible, trying not to disappoint the ones who have reservations.

But my girl and the sky were beautiful:

Mark and Janie went for a run down the beach then came back for a walk. Sherry 'SAYS' her knee is much better. WE are hoping. (She walked about 3/4 mile).

You can see the debris on the beach but it is mostly cleaned up.

We stopped by a Dairy Queen. I had a small tropical blizzard, Mark a banana milk shake and Sherry had a 'mini' pecan cluster blizzard. Janie had a lick or two of Sherry's blizzard. then we headed home.

Another good day!

Lizards are misunderstood

I like lizards.  Back in NC I have a friend, a blue tail lizard that has lost most of its tail, I call him stump.  I have had several conversations with Stump. Mostly to warn him about the cat that used to come around, lastly the Rhode Island Red hen, before her demise.  Funny thing stump out lasted both. I think it was my warnings.

Lizards! In Cuba we had loads of lizards. It took some doing, my girl never liked them, but learned to live with them. There we had the large lizards called Iguanas. They weren't around the housing area but did wander thru the outside eating areas of restaurants. Some of those dudes were three feet long. Most everyone enjoyed feeding them and they never bothered anyone.

We bought a utility trailer yesterday. This one came with three foot sides. As I was looking to cut the sides down out popped a lizard. He looked at me like, 'Where am I?'  He was just inches from my face.  I explained there was no way I would take him back home but there were lots of his cousins here.  He might even go a courting like Froggie i.e. 'Froggie went a courting and he did ride sword and pistol by his side, etc'

The dude listened and would cock his head a little as I talked. He never said anything, but he would not let me pet him, my finger got within 2 inches and he jumped 2 inches.

We have brown, spotted, black and light colored ones here at the house. A bigger variety than we have ever had.  I really do enjoy watching them, they are very interesting. They will stop and talk.  Well of course it is a one way conversation, but I know they understand.  I hope the new addition that came the trailer has a good life.  Lizards are absolutely more fun than mice, and are not destructive.

Yeah, a Trash can, ok a Garbage Bin.

We got our trash can today!
There are words from my youth that are out dated, How did that happen?  When we were in a town that provided trash pickup in my youth, everyone had a 50 gallon drum they rolled to the curb for the trash men to dump. I always wanted to be strong enough to lift a 50 gallon trash can and dump it in the truck.

I don't think I ever passed being able to lift an empty one. The drums were rolled around by the rim. Some trash men could roll two of them. The base of the drum became sort of a wheel at an angle. But it was a TRASH CAN!

Dibs or Tips was used by a kid who didn't have the nickel to buy a Pepsi, but his friend did. As soon as the friend started to drink the Pepsi, the other dude would call 'Dibs', meaning 'save me a drink of that Pepsi.

"Hang up the phone", no one hangs up the phone, they just 'end' the conversation.

There is a young man who lives down the street. He has stopped by several times looking for work. A very pleasant guy. I cannot remember what it was, but once after he left, I went inside and Sherry had heard the conversation. She was laughing. "That kid had no idea what you were talking about. He is too young to have heard that." OUCH

Okay, another good day. The shutters are up, the doors have the first coat applied. Oh yes and we now have a trailer. Thanks to Glenda down in Okeechobee, I learned that here in Florida, unless the trailer weighs over a ton, you only need a tag, no title.  Good news.

I also found the sewer line it exits the front of the house and is not deep.

So goes our world.

Ah ha! A great idea

This house had has a couple draw back, in my opinion.  One is plaster walls.  If you are not familiar with the 50-70's plaster walls there are studs upright and parallel ten a wire mesh is stretched across and plaster is applied. So it is hard to install a recessed toilet paper holder.  If it were the construction I am familiar with, studs and drywall, I could install the holder in less than 15 minutes.  Here I am looking at an hour (when I get to it.)

Other than the walls, the tub was in terrible shape.  I thought it was worn out, but son Mark said it has been refinished and now the refinish is gone south.  I looked closer and yep, it was a yellow tub with a white epoxy refinish job.

If this was not plaster walls, I would remove the tub and replace it.  It is usually a fairly uncomplicated job.  As most folk know the house is built around the bath tub or shower. In other words the tub is installed when only studs are standing, the same time the house is wired and plumbed. So although not complicated it is not simple.

Your amenities like commodes, Hot water heaters, furnaces, AC, vanities and kitchen cabinets are added after the drywall is hung and finished, making the job simpler in replacing those items.

So considering the trouble of removing the tub I decided to so something new to me, I bought the $50 kit at Lowes. Today I refinished the tub.   It was a lot of physical labor sanding and scraping since it had been refinished once already.  But it is good for a few years.  It will be three days before I can show you the results.

I needed a better breather apparatus, but I used the simple one and added an old t-shirt to breathe thru.  The mist did get on the decks, but it was an easy clean.

Oh the last 'Idea', I thought Mary's suggestion of knocking off at 7 taking a shower and having sex was a great idea. Mama said, "Mary is a kid, just 51, she might change her tune when .........!"  ………………..So we are back to the yearly schedule. LOL

(okay, go ahead we see you)
Funny how sex is viewed by the younger generation. They view it as I did when I was a kid. When you get 40 you are over the hill (LOL). Some folk lose interest at 60, some at 70 and some have never ‘ENJOYED’ sex and are glad then they age out. On a personal note, yes it still happens, it is still enjoyed, just not as often.  LOL

On that note I will sign out with the anniversary kissing selfie).
