This is the most senior couple at the party. Elmer (BIL) and Ann a very dear friend.
It is a funny thing, and many folks who read this can relate, that I remember a few folks who had a 55th anniversary and I thought they were OOOOLD. We don’t feel old, we discuss fairly often, we just do not feel old.
It has been a rough week, but I made it. How about you?
(Picture compliments of friend, Jim Page)
In reality though, when you work a little, you remember that you are really, honestly in the area where folks consider you OLD.
I wanted to add a couple things about the party. We stated no gifts, but of course some folk feel obligated to bring something. As we were leaving Sweet Ann (who is a ling time friend, and dear person, in her 80’s) brought us each a tote bag, ‘something you can use on the cruise’, she says. Gave us each some smelly good stuff, we can drench our bodies in it when we get to the stateroom. hahaha. I forgot to take a picture of it.
Of course Shirl’s gift will buy the fuel to Florida, in this diesel drinking sucker. (thanks Shirl)
Sweet Reece brought Blackberry and Muscadine Jelly (and her Grandma some brownies)
Jack was telling us that this was the Emerald anniversary, so what did he do, he bought us a whole box of Emerald …………………………………..almonds.(along with two gift certificates.)
We got so many beautiful cards, it was great.
Friend Mary Ann gave us a card, but on the reverse side it read, “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL YOUR ANNIVERSARY”.
Now this leaves room for speculation. Does she have advice to Sherry or me? I know she is concerned about Sherry getting pregnant, maybe some advice along those lines. We will wonder until Sept 22nd then on the ship, with Ann’s good smelly stuff, and something bought with Shirl’s money gift, we will open our card.
The party was not as big as out 50th, but we will plan a BIG BANG for the 60th. Maybe by that time someone will have invented a ‘virtual Party possibility’ and we can be blessed with all y’all’s presence.
It has been fun (And I am anticipating much more fun in the coming weeks!!!)
We missed one special person, Corinne. She would have been there, but ‘circumstances’ ……... She is the mother of Reececup, Matt & Luke, but divorce, one of life’s hateful things, raised its nasty head. Corinne took the responsibility of the work (decorating, etc) at our 50th party which was such a success. Love that girl, Yeah, we missed her!
Thanks for coming this way.

Wow you all made out like a bandit. Everything looks wonderful. Have fun on the cruise.
You look like you got some neat gifts, even though you told people not to bring 'em. It appears a good time was had by all. Have a great cruise.
Party photos look like everyone was enjoying themselves, and Jack, Jr had a novel idea to celebrate the 55th!!! Smart kid, what do they say "apple doesn't fall too far from the tree".
Am really looking forward to cruise pics...
Love reading about the good times!
Ths party was a very good time. I know everybody had a good time. Will be waiting for No.60. We will have a big bash.
Life is full of surprises and most of them are
good like your 55 party. Mary Ann is to funny
making you wait to open her present.
When scrolling down reading the blog and
saw Corine picture it broke my heart but we must go on.

Wow you all did great on the gifts. I love the EMERALDS. One of my favorites. Times like those are full of great memories, friends and lots and lots of love. I can't wait to see what the card says.
You and Sherry are bound to hit the 60th and have fun, besides. Now about worrying about pregnancy, relax, ain't gonna happen. I have been your age and more. Again congrats on the years you have been together.
