The Love of God

We are getting ready for a presentation for tonight.

Sherry & I visited with Fred’s family briefly more years ago than I want to think about, but they were remembered fondly. His mother has lost her loving husband and is living in a senior community. She is called ‘Muddie’, by the family (if I am understanding it right). This little lady is approachinhg 90 and as spunky as you can get. She is a well known minister and still preaches.

She has asked me to do a presentation at the Towers this evening. I plan to do a very familiar ‘Gospel song’ most folks know as ‘The Love of God’.

The last verse of the song is:
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God aboveWould drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

This is the picture I came up with to illustrate the song:

These are small 11x14 paintings. I will give one away tonight after the large drawing. When I drew on 3’x4’ paper I gave the drawings away. Now I have a new medium using velvet as the substrate, I no longer can give them away, thus the paintings.

'Muddie’ wanted me to sketch someone’s picture tonight, as I once did her g-grand daughter, Chloe.
I borrowed a photo of Muddie from Frances, to give it a try, but I will not try it tonight, this was my first try and cannot get the features right, Children are so much easier. Hahahahahahaha!

Okay I am off to get things ready to go. We are going early to visit some more before the presentation this evening.

Take care and thanks for coming this way!

PS:
A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. 'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out. 'What have you got there, dear?' With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'

I know you will do good. The illustration
fits the words to the song to a tee. I think the sketch looks like Muddie. Tell everyone
I said Hello from NC. Good luck

I didn't know you had so many other talents Jack. Good post. I paint with oils as well, but it has been years.

Talent you have, by stroke of the brush, and by word...Your presentation will be memorable, Jack.

I have difficulty with features also, but as my Daddy used to say, study each line before you paint or draw...he was an excellent artist. My first successful drawing of a persons face, was of my Daddy...just after he passed away. I studied every line.

You surely are a talent and it is hard to believe that there's something which won't look great while passing through your hands and mind. Please have you all a great Sunday.

Jack and Sherry - I wish all of your readers could have been there last Friday night. You truly blessed my Mom and the Seniors. This is Monday morning and we (Frances and me and our family and friends) have been so blessed to have you around. We'll be joining you again in a couple of hours from now for a meal and more visiting. We really love and appreciate you both.

BTW - the term "Mutte" kinda evolved from the German word for Grandmother, which is more correctly "Mutter" or "GroBmuttter". I don't have the correct key to type it right - but that's pretty close.
