Bandera followed by The Little Red Barn

Our time around San Antonio is winding down. In my Novel S’Gar, Tuck & his girl friend foil an armored car robbery in Bandera. I like revisiting this town. It is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. Not cowboy, like the singing cowboys, BUT the REAL top riders, doggers and ropers over the years.

SAN ANTONIO THURSDAY 019

We visited the Antique mall. Mark bought some things and I about bought an old rotary phone. We walked down past the Courthouse and a block behind we re-visited the small Museum there. I like it.

SAN ANTONIO THURSDAY 017

Inside the museum the boys enjoyed the history of the Local Cowboys.

SAN ANTONIO THURSDAY 014

Something unique was this Safe, This safe was broken into in Bandera and $7,000 was stolen, the thieves left a dollar bill as a joke. They used a torch and cut into the side of it.

Some cities identify themselves from the power poles in town. Valentine, NE has red valentines around. Hershey, PA has street lights made like Kisses. This is on the poles in Bandera:

There is more in Bandera, but yesterday before the boys flew out we had to see a couple more things.

We drove by this house:

Then to Mission Conception not to much further.

Finally to the Little Red Barn, and a big T-Bone steak with all the trimmings. We were met at the door and asked to follow a waitress with four salads in her hand and on her arm. You would love the menu. I am so tired of going to a restaurant and getting 4 menus, many I cannot read because of the lighting or print, BUT THIS MENU:

I can read. Our ‘boys’ were happy with their choices.

Sherry and I have eaten at the Little Red Barn before. But then the girls wore six-shooters with their outfits.

The steaks were good, the family had fun, and we headed back to the Motor Home for the last time with the boys. Their flight was this morning.  It has been fun, BUT the place is SOOO QUIET!  Winking smile

Thanks for coming this way.

PS:

The motor home is  quieter, but the visit was good family time.  I do miss daughters in law though! I despise divorce and what it does to families.!

Yeee hawww regarding the light poles there! Love those!!
Continued good times to you and your family. It's sad to know that the daughters in law that you love aren't a part of your trips any more. I understand about divorce, and I agree with your sentiments regarding divorce.
Hugs to you....

Looks like y'all had a good time. Now, was there something special about the gray and white house?

Awwwe you did pass by there. See the little playhouse in back? Mel built that for our girls. Made me sad to leave it. The building on the right was a duplex that we rented out. Lots of toilet and cook stove scrubing went on there. Nice to see Bandera too. We used to drive up there to see my Hemotoligist. Oh and there is a big tree and flowers missing from the little gray house. WE used to eat a steak on Thursday night. When we got to the stop sign Mel would say Little Red Barn or Hungry Farmer. I would say it doesn't matter. That conversation would go on until I chose one then he would go to the other one. What makes men like that??? lol Thanks so much for passing by. My sister's grandson lives there. Bet you never saw me leave such a long comment.

Looks like you covered lots of
things to see the last day.
Glad everybody had a good day.
I'm sure JJ and Mark had a good
time away from work.

Get some rest and relax..you
deserve it having two weeks at a fast pace. Miss you.

It will be a much quieter trip now without those boys of yours. It looks like they had a great time and ate well. Sorry it is so hot there. That would deter my sightseeing for sure. It's turned cooler here this evening and we are enjoying a wonderful 74 degrees.

hi Jack...you know more than I do about what Google is up to...I knew sometime ago that the gadget that allowed you to see who was following your blog was going to disappear and I believe the "reader" is the page where all the feeds for the people you're following comes too...let me know if I've got it wrong. I hadn't heard anything about the dashboard disappearing or maybe the "reader" page is the dashboard, I rarely if ever go to the "reader" page...if that goes I don't know how I'll take care of my blog!!! Don't understand why Google is making it so tough for the people with blogs...maybe they don't want to deal with blogs anymore. I already came one day and Google told me I didn't have a blog...I suppose one day I'll come and it won't let me in at all....looks like you're having lots of fun with your travels, enjoy, enjoy :)
