The first rainy day

Service Stations of the past:

 Out of Arkansas into Tennessee:

We unhooked and left in the rain, we crossed the Arkansas river that was muddy. Half of the state looked like this:

All the creeks and rivers were muddy. Assuming from the remains of the hurricane.

Some obvious flooding still remained in Central Arkansas.

Then it cleared some and we could see the trees and crops. I learned a few years ago Arkansas furnishes nearly 50% of our nation’s rice. They are 10th in Soybeans and the crops round out as wheat and corn for feed.

Rice constantly above and corn ready to be prepared for animal grain.

Soy fields as far as you could see.

Then the Mississippi River and the Memphis skyline.

The first building to view after the Mississippi river is the  Bass Pro Pyramid.

Then the Children’s hospital blurred but they are replacing the sign.

Of course Danny Thomas would be mentioned.

This was the general view on the road until we landed in JAckson. Some of I-40 was terrible going thru and after Memphis.

Parked here in Jackson, TN A little overcast, but no rain hamburgers with onions, lettuce and tomato, + a hotdog for supper. JJ finished his chocolate birthday cupcakes.

Nite Shipslog

PS:    Shucks, due to the rain we missed Toad Suck and Booger Hollow, Arkansas. But JJ says at least we will see Buck Snort, Tennessee tomorrow..

You did seem to hit a lot of rain there. It looked wet. It seems you are on your way home. I didn't know Arkansas had that many crops. Love what Danny Thomas did for the kids.

the pitter patter of rain is peaceful and serene as long as it's not coming down in buckets with thunder and lightening. i know you guys love to walk and explore the campgrounds. hope it lets up enough for you to do it. enjoy

After riding through the desert, I bet the rain was refreshing. The sky lines are so pretty. Again, good shots.
Your now only a day or two way from home. Chocolate cupcakes sound good right now.

Love that pic with "Welcome to Tennessee", what a beautiful bridge and skyline of Memphis! Arkansas does look drenched, that rice likes the rain though. Hope your stay in Jackson was a bit drier, it's not as much fun to drive in rain. Stay safe and enjoy scenic TN! Love from Chobee, Glenda

Glad you are almost home, especially since the cubcakes are now all gone.

Ugh ... I really dislike driving in the rain; steering clear of the Dale Earnhardt wanna-be's. I'd no idea about the rice crops. (Come to think of it, there's a lot I still need to learn.)
Tennessee's on my short-list of places I'd like to visit, once the threat of Covid lessens.

We've had some nice rain that was really needed. I enjoy a rainy day but not when I'm driving! I love the green scenery better than the dry, brown of the Southwest. I love those names and I hope you can stop and see those places. Safe travels guys!

By now, you must be almost home. Rain is fun to dance in and listen to on a metal roof. Be careful tho, when you have to drive in it. Our day was filled with so much wind but the air was ok at 67 degrees. I picked more tomatoes, and Bill pulled the onions for me. Also I canned another 7 qts. of tomatoes. Your photos of your trip are a delight. Who knew rice grew that well down south. And here I thought MN was a large rice producer. Ha !!
loven'hugs from up north where I'm re-tired. My produce needs tending again.
