Taxes and Teeth

When my retirement pay went up a few dollars I thought that is great. But in the wisdom of some they had started taking out less tax. SOOOOO We got hit by a tax bill . Not funny, because it had to be paid, but sometimes it makes a difference whether it is all at once, or a little at a time.

As you have probably guessed, I just finished our taxes.

I cannot remember the whole formula, but I laughed as I went through the mathematical gyrations on Social Security alone. It read:

“Take the amount on line 23. Place it on line 1 (new form) Now divide line 1 by two, place result on line 2. Is line two larger than the figure in (a)? if not, enter 0. If so, subtract. Now multiply line 3 by 85%, that is .85. Place the answer on line 4. Subtract line 4 from line 2. Etc. This was ridiculous.”

Besides that I have a toothache. I went to a dentist in Lake Pannawhatchiekde or Pannasofkee, (whatever). That is a small community 15 miles south of here. Yeah, before you get all uppity, his office is in a trailer. I went there once a few years ago. This time He worked on the tooth for about 15 minutes and did not charge. I could tell he didn’t think he had fixed anything. He just did it to placate me. I thought the tooth was too high and needed to be cut down, so he did.

(This one reminds me on one of my topsy turvy pictures I do for kids. By flipping my rendition over you have a Rabbit!)

So I will ask my sweet wife to call him back Monday to see if he can x-ray it, fix it or pull it. DO SOMETHING! I have enough back teeth; I won’t miss one more at this age. AND SO here I sit, like a nut, eating pretzels on the other side of my mouth, waiting for the vitamin I to take effect (Ibuprophen). I wouldn’t let him pull a front one, but this is a back one, I will still be purty.LOL

Thanks for coming by the log,

1955 Chevy, my all time favorite car. One day I would like to tow one of these behind this motor home.

Heard when this ’55 was new:

'No one can afford to be sick anymore,
At $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for
my blood.'

Oh those wonderful can you not love them...ha. Sorry you've got a sore tooth, hope it has nothing to do with the bashing of Shirl's dolly... :) Hope it feels better!
Have a great weekend, Sheila

Forget about the math part of the exit exam for high school or the GED; if you can fill out your own tax form, you're more proficient at math than most college graduates.

I hope your poor mouth is smiling again soon.

Got my papers ready to file. I think they should
make a rule after a certain age you don't have to
file. I guess I will let the experts (so called)
fill my out. I wonder how much they really
know. They just put figures in and let the computer do the rest. Take care of that tooth.

Oh those wonderful taxes - yuck! And "ouch" on that toothache! I sure hope you can find some satisfaction in that department to ease your pain. Toothaches remind me of what those poor little babies go through when they are teething. We've all been there and done that but it's a good reminder of the pain.

P.S. - Maybe Sherry can kiss your cheek and make it all better.

I hope that tooth feels better real soon. There is nothing much worse. We've more snow added to the count today and I'm not a happy camper about that...the folks at our campground emailed saying everyone's trailer were fine even with all the ice we had. It'll be the middle of April before I see it again so it was good to hear so far so good there.

Jack, I have the perfect solution for tax time. I turn all of that over to the Queen of the Kitchen, who becomes the Minister of Home Finance during this time! Ha. I still don't understand how the government feels it has the right to charge taxes - and to have them up the tax and why we continue to pay it is a mystery. Just give me the simplified form, which always circulates this time of year. Question 1. How much did you make last year? Question 2. Send it in.

Haven't even started my taxes yet. It sure comes around fast. Glad you will still look purty for Sherry's sake.
