It is nature for heaven’s sake

No one can predict the terror of a storm of nature. I smile every time I think of a terrible tornado that hit the edge of Charlotte years ago. It was strong enough to move a huge crane 3 feet and it was set in thirty feet of concrete. a city councilman in the wisdom of a politician at the next council meeting, proposed to add to the building codes: buildings built from hence forth WILL BE TORNADO PROOF!

One builder agreed with his assessment with one caveat, that from hence forth all commercial buildings be built underground.

I read here on the internet during the time Irene was passing NC, a gentleman (?) who was stating  Irene was the result of Climate change. So? was all the hurricanes back as far as time is recorded the result of something else?

I do appreciate ministers of the gospel, but when they start claiming storms, earth quakes, etc. are caused by the SINS of that area it bothers my logic. In reference to that , I guess God has completely given up on SIN CITY, out in Nevada. I did hear one preacher say God has done this in the Old Testament, I wanted to say, The Flood okay, but brother fire from heaven ain’t a natural disaster! That is when someone really makes God mad.

Oh, I am not doubting God could punish areas, if He so desired. My belief is that God has set this earth into motion, and the natural things that can happen due to nature’s combinations or situations WILL HAPPEN, whether we like it or not.

Our weather report here has been very good. Our winds did not exceed 20 mph, and we got no rain. We did see a large convoy of electrical crane and bucket trucks headed toward the coast to help restore power to the areas hardest hit.

Thanks for reading this stuff,

This 1956 Pontiac was a beauty!  It would do some moving also. How about that continental Kit?

Yeah, that Pontiac owner wasn't happy with the beauty of his car, so had a Lincoln Continental kit added?! I still like the looks of it.

My favorite quote concerning the storms is: "God maketh it to rain on the just and on the un-just!" In other words, God has set natural laws into motion and won't retract them except in very special cases. (i.e., "Elias prayed and the heaven's gave no rain - and he prayed again and the heaven's gave rain.") That's somewhere in James, if I remember right.

I do believe that God controls the weather...but I too, cringe when I hear some of the judgments pronounced by some who escaped damage this time. Next time it may be their church or synagogue. Hebrews 10:31 "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

I'll just say one thing on the subject. when I opened the door late yesterday it was so hot I thought of what hell may be like.

I agree with you nature is just that NATURE. We don't understand and can't do a thing about it but heaven knows there is a reason for it. Sometimes we need to know that there are certain things we can't control. Glad all is well there. We had some strong winds, but nothing bad here too. That was it. Hope all is well there at your house.

God made the earth so why can't he do what he see fit to do to it or for it. I also thought of what Mr.Fred Alton said. God maketh it to rain on the just and the unjust.
Ken asked me what I thought about all of it. His answer was the first part of my comment. My answer was about the rain. I also agreed with what he said. Helen

Glad you are all fine. Thank you as well for this interesting explanation. Made me wonder why it hasn't rained over here for now more than 80 days.
Please have you all a good Tuesday.

Gods got his hands full dealing with idiots, especially evangelists who use the bible for their own purposes. He leaves Mother Nature to her own ways. Hey, rain just makes you appreciate the sunshine.

PS - Jack, do you have Paint by Microsoft. I've done a few landscapes and it works rather well.
