I am sure some have read this before. When I first read it it was about some North Carolina Farmers. But I found this on a forum and figure it is more true.
Curtis & Leroy saw an ad in the Starkville Daily in Starkville, MS and bought a mule for $100.
The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day.
The next morning the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, fellows, I have some bad news, the mule died last night."
Curtis &Leroy replied, Well, then just give us our money back."
The farmer said,"Can't do that.
I went and spent it already."
They said, "OK then, just bring us the dead mule."
The farmer asked, "What in the world ya'll gonna do with a dead mule?"
Curtis said, "We gonna raffle him off."
The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead mule!"
Leroy said, "We shore can! Heck, we don't hafta tell nobody he's dead!"
A couple of weeks later, the farmer ran into Curtis & Leroy
at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and asked, "What'd you fellers ever do with that dead mule?"
They said,"We raffled him off like we said we wuz gonna do."
Leroy said,"Shucks, we sold 500 tickets fer two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898."
The farmer said,"My Lord, didn't anyone complain?" Curtis said, "Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two dollars back."
Curtis and Leroy now work for the government.
They're overseeing the Bailout Program.
My Brother Odis was known to repeat this quote:
“One never knows does one?”
Thanks for coming tis way,
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Speaking of Cars: This was bought to replace the mule for $4.5million.
Looks like, sounds like you guys are having a
great time. Loved the Peaches and Curds entry
from yesterday...wow that vegetable stand was
georgeous! And the mountain vistas, I'm envious, as it's overcast and 90 degrees in Okeechobee, gonna get hotter if the rain passes us by. That happens often, as it goes right around us, they call it the "lake effect". Mountain breezes would be welcome right now, enjoy!
2 funny ~ We went to a car show yesterday and while walking through I just kept thinking to myself,"Jack would like that one:)" and I had to kick myself too ~ because I didn't have my camera:(
I liked yesterday's post - I'm so happy you've expanded your taste buds and now love the cheese curds. Have you tried them warmed in the microwave yet? Or plopped a few into a bowl of chili?
Nice melon too ... you sure don't see them like that in the stores anymore; at least not around here. Now they are all the seedless hybrids.
:) Thank you for this happiness. Please have you all a good new week.
Thanks for the SMILE today. Does make me wonder. Hope your Sunday has been a great one. I had a good relaxing weekend at the camper. Sure hated to leave but storms were brewing west of us so I guess it's good I came home.
I am pretty sure I met Curtis and Leroy down
at the Bank taking care of the interest for our money. Glad to find out where they have started
working after messing up the Banks. I think
there are to many Curtis and Leroy's in
I remember Daddy's mules were struck by lightening when I was a child. He should have raffled them off. Good entry!
What is this about cheese curds. missed your blog about that
Didn't do much on the PC yesterday. We had 2 mules and they were as stubborn as Joe.
