Circular drive & Ouch AGAIN!

 Car of the day:

This is the last of the concept cars of today I could find. Is this one crazy? and it is a Rolls. Not sure how much rubber meets the road?

For today:

I have always wanted a circular drive, but I have never built with one at our house. This house has two drives but it is entrances from two streets. 

But we now have a drive thru storage area. LOL

Since I enclosed the area under the back deck I have regretted not making it a drive thru. So I finally decided to do the deed.  My back is telling me I have over did and is telling me again, but NOT LIKE, or as loud as before. All it needs now is a little rest and I have promised it I will take it easy.

I had to modify both entrances. Opening this one 3 inches to make the driving in to be not too exact.

 

This one in the back I cut the Wall back 16 inches and hinged it. On first look when it is closed it looks no different. But you can see the hinges to the left of the door.

 

But when open it is 50 inches and easy to drive in or out. But the idea is to drive straight thru, especially with the kid’s trailer behind.

 

Looking from the side door to the back door you  can see I can drive right thru now.

The real work was the newest ramp, I wanted to be cute so I did it at a 15 degree angle, adding more work than I thought. I had to move the trash container also, but it all worked out well. We can stand on the deck, raise the lid with a line and drop the bagged trash down into it, neither of us has missed yet. LOL

 

DIL Corinne driving 2 and 3 of the kids around. I have up graded (or down graded) to a smaller train engine to make it easier to drive. It is still a John Deere)

Now I can store all the lawn mowers and the kids riding rig. Without having to jockey them around to get out and in. They can drive it right into the station to park it.

HOWEVER........Now my back and my caring wife are not happy with me. At least she is sweet. ;-)

Old Folks , Doctors Appts, & places visited as a kid

For today:

Sherry and I have had more Doctors appointments this summer than ever before. We must be getting older and making a history we can brag about things to all the other older people (Like Don and Evelyn.) LOL

When we had dinner together the other Don was bragging that he had washed HALF of his RV. I haven’t gotten that far yet. ;-)……

(I don't remember having company but it sure woulda been extra fun)

I did sit in the driver’s seat and imagined I was on the road, it was almost like playing  at uncle Oscar’s junk yard. One of my favorite places as a kid when I could sit in the wrecks and ‘Plike’** I was driving around curves in the mountains. Most of the time the visits to Oscar’s Garage and Junk Yard down in Laurens, SC, were NEVER long enough for me; I loved a junk yard.

Family visits to Uncle Irvin’s store and Uncle Oscar’s Junkyard were HIGH on my ‘Like List.’

Going to Uncle Clyde and Aunt Ruby’s house was the lowest on my list, they had no kids and she collected salt and pepper shakers. I ‘think’ there were thousands of them. There were even car salt and pepper shakers, BUT I COULD NOT touch them. (Not sure it that was Ruby or mama’s rule).

Was there a special place or someone Kin that you LOVED to visit as a child?

This church caught my eye, and the neatness of this house

WHAT IS THIS?  There used to be RR tracks to the top of these unique structures. Train cars loaded with Iron ore were on top and those grey angled devices are chutes for loading ships and barges very fast. This is on Lake Superior.

Now from Texas. Love the looks of these cactus. But do not try to hug them.

Below is the picture that jarred this entry to my mind. This Barn popped up on my screen saver and I have been searching for it.

I love this barn, it is in Idaho, near the Snake River. I need to snip the barn. This was shot while moving of course as most of our pictures are. Anyway, to me this is beautiful.

I am just here. Reading blogs and commenting when I can. Life will pass you by unless you get on the train, I hear, so I am looking for a chance to get back on with a thought or two.  Until then I will enjoy what you have to say in Bloggerville until YOU jar a thought into my little mind.

Today we were shocked into reality when we met some friends at a place called Cheddars. We waited for a good while before being seated. And we learned it was not due to a lack of seats, but a lack of workers, there was only one cook in the kitchen. No one else showed up for work.

But we did have a good time and nice visit. Don & Evelyn were there, they are OLD friends of Sherry’s that I have known to enjoy. They are also RV’ers. The other couple were RV’ers also, but not too active at tis time. BUT of course it was good to see them and catch up on their lives. Of the 4 couples, only Don/Evelyn and we will make the trip to Florida this year.

That is my tidbit for today......

Especially for my entertaining grandsons, Josh & Stephen

For today:

WE get 99% junk mail and utility bills. Have you noticed that businesses are NOT in business to make money? They seem to be in business to GIVE you something.

Today I was thrilled to know there is a window company in my area ‘this week’ and have been trying to contact me. They are going to give us $279 off every window and $500 off every door. AND, AND if we act in the next few days they will even take off $500 off the total bill and give us 2 windows. WOW! I can hardly wait. (I cannot imagine the TOTAL COST of that GIFT!)

I feel like the lady who had her windows and doors upgraded.  For months she received a bill and threw it away. After a year a collection agent stopped by to see what the problem was.

“Mr. Window has asked me to see if I could find out why you have not sent any payments in on their fantastic windows, has there been a problem with them?”

Astounded, the lady replied, “Definitely no problems, It has been a year, I am sure they are now fully paid off!”

“Not according to Mr. Window!”

“Well the man who had those installed assured me they are the most efficient on the market and he said they would pay for themselves in 12 months.  It has been 12 months now, so I am assuming they are paid for, right?” The lady was looking at the collection man awaiting an answer.

Shaking his head, “I guess you have me there, I will give your answer to Mr. Window.”  The collection agent walked off smiling to himself……

To tell the truth, that is about how I feel about these advertisements. BTW is anyone contacting you about buying your house?

We get at least 3 letters/cards a week. They will pay cash. None have given a written offer until now. This week we actually got an offer on one piece of property. It was $1,240.00 Yep one thousand two hundred forty dollars, keep in mind now that this is CASH.(LOL) They don't know they are talking about our driveway which is actually deeded separate from the house.

There must be money made on these mass mailing.

I am not even talking about the crazy offers via e-mails.

Life is good.

 Todays Bentley Concept

For today:

First, I just noticed it is 10/4!  I have heard the term: "Ten Four Good Buddy" many times, coming from the time of CB radios. WE never did get one during it's hey day, but I certainly remember the well worn term

It is hard for someone who has a BIG problem to say, “Life isn’t fair!”

Humans sorta look around us at folks who seem to have no problems and say ‘they have it better than I!’

I was thinking back over a post about the same thing that Victor put on, he was quoting Father Ignatious. Victor is an odd fish, he has several personalities, one is Father Ignatious. Yeah I know I am spelling it different, but he doesn’t know how to spell his own name. (but don’t tell him!)

I must admit that the Father is pretty smart, even if his words belong to Victor.  Anyway he did explain the ‘Life isn’t fair,’ feeling very well to his catechism class.

Billy, my friend who is blind, he certainly never asked to be blind. If someone could say ‘This isn’t fair’ it is him. Then he just lost his sweet wife ‘Jewel’ who was his eyes, and he could yell that even more loudly, ‘This is not fair!’ But he does not, he has this ‘Steady as she goes’, attitude and a BIG SMILE!

AND a sweet friend in Florida who is a dedicated Christian and just lost her youngest son to COVID, She too could yell, “THIS ISN’T FAIR!” and she is right it isn’t fair, but it is life.

If most of us will take the time to think and look around us, we can see others who prove, life isn’t fair.

I read once if we could see other’s lives deeply and their problems, we would gladly embrace ours.

So for today, let me say I am Blessed. We still have both our sons and they are in good health.

You are looking at an old man, then in just a few years there you are.

 Yesterday the concept car was the off the road Audi, today is to be YOUR on the road Concept car...

For today:

We just walked a few blocks to see Ann and Daisy, our favorite ‘sister’ friends.  We have known their families for years. Sherry has known them longer but I met them in the late 50s/early 60s.

We talked about Bobby dropping by our house the other day for a visit and that brought up the subject of how the number of our friends decrease as we age. Now that is sorta funny, usually Sherry and I are usually the elders of the folks we are talking to, however with Ann and Daisy we are the KIDS. Daisy will be 96 soon and Ann is 94. They are both sisters are very sharp, and live together. they quit driving recently but have family near for errands, and shopping.

They both have had bouts with health problems in the past year. Daisy was in the hospital with Covid and Ann has had a terrible bout with shingles.  Both are now doing quite well. As we were leaving Ann’s son and DIL stopped by bringing a meal.

I just put this on the blog so you will try to be good so you will live long enough to be OLDER!

I have a friend, OK, a witty OLD friend with a pretty wife. The questions in this entry come from an e-mail from him today. He was the one who would have asked these in 1954. Buddy (Richard) was the witty one in our little group for a couple years. He went over to England and found  ‘Di’ (She is his princess but not THAT Princess), at a weak moment she agreed to marry him and come back to the USA and live in a motor home, house, or a streetcar, ‘BLESS HER HEART’ (As we down south are known to say!)

Now, ain't the above the truth?
