I’ll admit I am not much on movies. I love most all cowboy and war movies. But the most impressionable movie I ever saw was, “Fiddler on the Roof”, the more times I see it the more I learn about life. And I never liked Musicals set to Movies.
EXCEPT!
The older I get the more the meaning of, “My life is as precarious as a Fiddler on a Roof”.
I loved the part where Tevye, the poor milk man, is talking to his wife, Golde. And he sings, “Do you Love me?” over and over.
Golde finally answers, “
Do I love you?
For twenty-five years I've washed your clothes
Cooked your meals, cleaned your house
Given you children, milked the cow
After twenty-five years, why talk about love right now?
(Tevye)
Then you love me?
(Golde)
I suppose I do
(Tevye)
And I suppose I love you too
(Both)
It doesn’t change a thing
But even so
After twenty-five years
It's nice to know
Of course their marriage had been ‘arranged’ as in the EARLY days many marriages were. Sometimes I think they should be now. But of course, like congress, I want to be exempt and pick my own, like I did!
Did you know that divorce is past the 50% mark in marriages? No wonder the youth of today, decide to live together, because they cannot make that ‘lifetime’ commitment.
I know that there are impossible cases where two people cannot live together for various reasons. Basically, the marriage was a mistake. But I believe more in today’s world would work if folks would TRY! Usually it is something small that festers (like Dar’s little sliver could have, until the marriage is truly sick.ref: http://darsstuffings.blogspot.com/2011/02/warm-home-pain-and-rewards.html ). I really do feel sorry for those folk; they will miss so much in life.
I see in life those divorced, some of them bitter, but most simply afraid, and cannot make themselves get back on the treadmill, as they call it.
In my opinion Marriage is worth it for the lonely, but finding the right person is the trick right?
I think I will quit, I don’t see how I merged into this subject. I am trying to take ‘Dear Abby’s Job’.
Shucks, a great marriage even makes a toothache easier to handle.

The best thing my daughter said to me, after many years of marriage is that she loved her husband more all the time. I did too. If your spouse isn't your best friend, you're not doing it right!
a very sweet post...am really missing all your nice post jack!advance happy valentines to you and shirl...
I could take over where you left off as far as marriage goes. It's so sad so many end with divorce. You are blessed there with a good one and I know the both of you wouldn't change a thing. Hope your sunny south is warm and you are enjoying the day!
That silhouette of the fiddler on the roof actually looks a lot like you, Jack! It is quite a balancing trick too, playing any instrument on the roof. Just like having a happy marriage is. Balance is the key. It's never 50/50. (Well, rarely it might be.) Some days it's 40/60, other days it's 60/40, and still other days it's 90/10. As long as it works out to be a 100%, then you're balancing it right!
thoughtful thoughtful only happy sound to you all and a good wednesday too.
LOVE the CAR it was an attention getter and
performed good. Thenks for putting the pictures
up for me to see. It brings back beautiful
memories. Look at the Fin what a BEAUTY.
I loved Fiddler on the Rood. When finding a mate you need to learn to give and receive and the main ingredient is LOVE.
Marriage is a like a pet. Needs to be given attention and care daily. Didn't come with an "easy button". lol Nice entry. Hope you all are warm and cozy. We are in for another snow event. And this morning, I actually felt like TWO cups of coffee and not ONE! Getting back to normal. I think the hamburger helped. lol
jack and Shirl, hello !
very good entry and wonderful comments. i enjoyed reading them all.
oh i love this movie and even have the soundtrack on c.d.
sunrise sunset is my favorite tune from it.
dont know much about marriage other than if you dont pick the right partner you are in for a bummpy ride.
seems like today most people dont know how to commit to anything or even stay the course as you said Jack.
i, hung in there with mine until they literally beat me away.
now i am alone and happy with that!
LOL THAT SILLOUETE [spelling]? does look like you Jack, the hat!
I'm with you on the watching of Fiddler on the Roof ~ not big on musicals with the exception of that one. I could watch that a hundred times and see something new each viewing. I love it!
I agree too with the marriage counseling you gave us Dear Abby about trying. I liked Fred's answer and count my lucky stars that Slim can live within the range of 95/5 ratio I have set him on. lol (me being the 95) As long as it works out to 100% We have a good balance going on:))
