It is the door stupid.

I just learned this via e-mail from my cousin who is educated and knows these things.

(The pictures have nothing to do with the entry, I just like them for a distraction, they are 3’s)

And I thought I had short term memory loss due to age....

What A Relief To Learn This...

Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was?

Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses. Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an event boundary in the mind, separating the past set of thoughts and memories from the next.

Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale. It's not aging, it's the stupid door!

Thank goodness for studies like this.

I asked some ministers if it was okay to lie to yourself. I got varied answers, most thought it was funny.

I read the other day the a man with a girth of 38” at the navel (not naval) was in danger of heart disease.

Now like most  men, I keep lowering my belt, staying in 32” trousers. (I asked Sherry to turn her head so as not to embarrass her) Then  I got me nekkid. I pulled tape I was 38” Quickly I sucked my gut in and dropped it to 37”. BUT MY PANTS SAY 32!!!!

So Imma lying to myself. Gotta find me a girdle. This ain’t rite.

I am cutting out the snacks in the evening, except the apple, a few nuts and two pieces of hard candy.

It is working I am already down to 39”, that wasn’t hard at all. Winking smile

I know y’all want to know, so I will make a periotic report, every ten years.

PS:

If you catch yourself lying to yourself, STOP IT!

I don’t think I ever saw a gas station with ‘Beautiful REST ROOMS.’

A Pontiac & Merc day!

(I just noticed that is Little America, West-Midwest? I know we have stopped at a place called Little America)

You don't look the least bit overweight in your pictures, but the tape measure doesn't lie.

I think I would like Wild Bill very much. ~Mary

Joan in Utah says this in an e-mail:
Yes, Little America is on the way to Jackson Hole, I think - and other mid west places. I know we have been there many times (in our more younger times)

Joan is the other Grandma and Great grandma in Utah...

I am so glad there is a medical reason for me - every time I go from the kitchen to the pantry I always forget what I was going for in the pantry!

Did you know that zebras are not black and white they are brown and white?

Good to know memory problems are caused by the doors 'cause I go through lots of doors every day. Like the 3's pictures.

Ahhh, so it IS the doors that do me in...so that's why we can always remember what we forgot to remember by going back to where we thought of it in the first place...shucks, now I'm confused again...forgot what I wanted to add...
You look great Jack...it's been a very very long time since I could claim that waistline. Gotta laugh at me.

I'm not even going to try to measure what I have. I know it won't get me any good results. I do love it that they do all these studies. There are studies about all sorts of things, but I hadn't heard of this one. So now I know the why, but still have the problem of what I was going to do when I reached the other room. I guess a lot of us have that. I got outside with just a sweater on this afternoon and very briefly enjoyed some sunshine. Tomorrow it;s going to rain and get much colder but at least I had today.

We usually keep every door in our home open, which makes one feel like moving without passing through a door. Yet, admit, there are still a few times I forget what I wanted a room before.

Just realized that I wear Pullovers and Shirts from eight years ago, they still fit, Jeans from three years though ;)

Please have you all a good Sunday.

I agree with the others, you don't look like you are carrying any extra weight, Jack. It must have been a defective measuring tape! I do like the study though about what happens when we leave one room to another; sure makes me feel a lot better for when I go into the room and forgot why I came there!

have a great Sunday you two!

«Louis» is really enjoying the gas station series you are running! Shirl sent many (all?) of them to «Louis», but he is enjoying seeing them again. He agrees - he has never seen a restroom in a gas station that would qualify as "beautiful"!
