This camp ground is on the Peace River. We would have called this a creek when I was a kid. The water is brown and fast flowing looks like it is flowing at about 3-4 mph. The brownish color of the water comes from Tannic acid, decaying trees and leaves in the swamps. The swamp is the head waters of the Peace, Hillsborough, and Withlacoochee rivers. The water is good just stained like tea.
You can see the tea colored water contrasted by the white sand at the bottom of the river. I love those tall Palms, It is hard to imagine they stand up to hurricane winds.

Of course there are alligators along the river, we did not see any yet, but we know they are there. In Florida, any pond, river, creek or lake is subject to have alligators and snakes around.
Our camp site for a couple weeks. We really like it here. a great place to walk.
This is abut 100 yds from our site and is a Canoe launch. Also the start of the nature trail that goes by the two trees on the left. Shown below.

We went to Choke Canyon south of here one day and there are warning signs about alligators being in that park. As many times as we've been there we have never seen even one.
It does look peaceful on Peace River. What a nice place you have picked to stay awhile. Hopefully you won't bee seeing any alligators there. The sun is shinning here today and we've got up to 29. Where the thermometer is on the fence post outside it is warmer saying it is 41, but that is only because the sun is shinning on it right now. Hope you and Sherry have a fantastic Friday!
Watch out for those sneaky gators that hide in the tall grass...!!

Your campground looks like a piece of heaven, to me. What a wonderful place. I, too, love the palms...and love the differences in them.

We spent one winter in the Peace River Mobile Home Park off Highway 17, (Duncan Road) outside of Punta Gorda, it was at 29208 Snook Circle, we even thought of staying there and bought a 1955 10 X 50 Mobile Home, beautiful shape, out lot had a garden and the trailer had a nice 10 X 30 patio, we had a neighbow who took us fishing everyday, we loved Sugar Trout, Salt water cats, & Fresh water Cats, we left there and sold the trailer for just what we paid for itto a young couple who didn't have much and we came back to New York.
Enjoy your stay there on the Peace River, Hoping 2013 is another Great Year for you 2 and your Family !
