In my lifetime, I have been blessed with some of the best of women. Mama
ranked with the best women in the world of course. I was always proud of my
sisters. When Sherry agreed to marry me,
I learned she had a connection with her mother and sisters that would never be
broken. They too were also in that group of great and wonderful women.
Knowing
great women has been a charm in my life. I am smart enough to know that Women
have never been appreciated for ‘smarts’ as they should. In my Lifetime, especially WWII, at first it
was ‘Pin-Ups’ that were noted and made the headlines.
Then after a couple years someone realized that the real back bone of
the ‘War-Machine’ were the women left behind to fill the jobs of the men who
went to war; and then ‘Rosie the Riveter’ was recognized.
In this century my memory of Helen Keller, Eleonore Roosevelt, Marie
Curie, and Rosa Parks jumps out. We saw
and sat in the bus Rosa Parks rode, I think it was at the Henry Ford.
No
one should forget Mother Teresa, what a sweet GIVING and love-hearted woman.
Oh did you know that Madam Curie’s body is still radio-active? She made sure others around her were protected but fell victim to what she discovered, Radium and Plutonium. When you receive a safe x-ray, remember her.
What about you, any lady heroines?

How I love this post, Jack!
Indeed, our momma's deserve celebrated - whether they're still here or above.
The only name that jumps out at me is Princess Diana. I agree with all of these you mention, and wonder how many everyday heroines are out there going about their lives largely unnoticed.
PS - I never knew that about Madam Curie!
Of course my mom, but all moms should be on the list of heroines :)
Queen Elizabeth comes to mind. She always put the Crown first and England first over a lot of things. Some could fault her for this or that, but her devotion to her "job" as queen is to be admired especially as she keeps going at age 95. And she loves corgis!

Such a perfect way to recognize the women in your life!
So many brave women carried the nation to become a country, stay a country, and grow as a country. Names are hidden in history, hard to choose but I will go for Harriet Tubman, Sacajawea, the Suffragettes, and women scientists who made computers work. They were all brave and determined.

This was a fun read. As a woman myself, I love seeing the old pinup girls. I know they weren’t back then but now days they seem modest and show courage. I always thought they were prettier than todays model because they were natural beauty and no fake stuff.
