Memorable Automobiles from The Past:
For today:
Probably
not in the whole country, but at least around here I have heard it said about
requiring FACEMASKS: “They can kiss my ---, no government is telling me what I
can and can’t do!!!”
I get a
big laugh out of that, since a big part of my life the government told me
EXACTLY what I could and could not do, BUT of course I was in the military. LOL
naturally I expected that, I had volunteered.
However as a civilian, I am still
told what I can and cannot do, even in all this wonderful freedom. That is not
said sarcastically, I mean it. Yep I am told what to do in many cases, but we
still enjoy that GREAT FREEDOM.
Look around you, how much of your
life is controlled by our government?
In 1955 I
did not have insurance on my automobile.
It was not long until I was required to have Liability INS on my car or
I could not drive it!
Besides
that I couldn’t even drive a car unless I had a license issued by the state
government.
Government
even tells me how fast I can drive.
LOL I can argue, but it will cost
me a bunch.
I am not arguing for or against government,
we all know the government DOES tell us what to do. We agreed many years ago to allow our ‘Representatives’
to make laws for our own good, and the good of all, and they do.
We don’t
like them all, but most of us do follow the ‘law’. WE CAN AND DO vote the dudes
(and dudesses) out that go against the grain of the majority.
SOOO…. If
our representatives or one that has been appointed by them suggests we wear a
mask for the good of all, MOST OF US WILL DO THAT.
So YES, we can be told to wear masks
if deemed it is safer for the majority to do that. These rules are made for all.
So we
abide by the rules (most of the time) but we still know we are exceptions.

You have to look at the source of who is making the rule and why.
As usual, you've raised some good points. (I didn't realize car insurance wasn't always required!)
Unfortunately, Alabama is dead LAST in the U.S. for vaccinations and the numbers of hospitalizations are soaring. Now we're hearing news reports out the U.K. of fully-vaccinated people testing positive.
I'll be interested to come back here and read others' thoughts. For now, Tom and I are still being cautious and wearing masks.
PS - Let 'em laugh ... at least it hides my wrinkles and I'm saving a bunch on lipstick!
My big thing is they (government and Dr. Fauci) were wishy washy at the beginning of this about masks. Don't wear one. Wear one. Wear two. Wear them outside. Wear them inside. Wear them when you are all alone walking down the street with no one around. There is a lot of misinformation out there about this virus from both sides; pro mask wearers/pro vaccine and anti mask wearers/anti vaccine. And then they are shaming those who don't want to get the vaccine for a variety of reasons by saying if you aren't fully vaccinated you still have to wear a mask where I have multiple reports of so many people who had the vaccine and still got Covid. So basically I think they don't know what is going on and I am not sure how much truth we are getting. But I consider it abuse to have a child have to wear a mask especially for all day at school and while outside playing at school.
I wear a mask at work because I choose to at the kiosk where the health screening is done to mark the button "not fully vaccinated or prefer not to disclose". That means I have to wear a mask while in public areas, not at my desk. I can live with that. I don't wear a mask in the grocery store and the like when there is a sign on the door that says fully vaccinated don't have to wear a mask.
The vaccine was supposed to work and make people safe from Covid and apparently it is not as effective as they thought it would be. If someone is vulnerable and wants to wear a mask and get the vaccine I respect that. But at the same time they should respect those who choose not to to get the vaccine instead of shaming us with their virtue signaling.

I am not a mask wearer, nor will I take the vaccine. However, I still always have a mask with me if I feel I’m in a position where I NEED to wear it. Otherwise I feel them unnecessary. As far as the vaccine, To much corruption has been going on the past two years for me to trust it. I also know two people that have died within a week of taking the shot. One is enough for me to say no.

I will wear a face mask if required and don't take chances when I don't have too. Wearing them has kept me safe so far so I will never complain about them. I had a hard time going out without one, but they say if we've been vaccinated we should be fine. I have no problem at all with following the rules they were made for out safety.
We're in a very rural community where the world stopped when all this started. We do still wear a mask, in fact it's required, when going into a medical facility. I get that and we do comply. However, we did decide, even with our health issues, that we will not be having anymore vaccines other than our annual flu shot. It's political, in my opinion, and it needs to be much more clear before we proceed with following anymore of ' their ' rules. There's a big celebration called the Butternut Pioneer Days this weekend. We haven't gone for years so our excuse isn't covid, but our decisions to make up our own minds of where we will go and where we will not. If anything, we will watch the parade if only to bump into a few relatives and friends. Everyone has a right to make up their own minds so I agree with you. Stop~
