Memorable Automobiles from The Past:
For today:
We took a full trailer and car to the yard sale. Lights were on in
houses as we drove out. People get up at 5 and 6 AM in the mornings. I had
forgotten that. LOL
Yard sales must be becoming a thing of the past. It was near
7:30-8:30 before folks started showing up. The traffic was light. Most of our prices were 10, 25 and 50 cents. I heard a lady on the phone telling someone to come over, that we had the best prices on the yard, and we did. LOL
I had the trailer as a table also, you can see the books just behind Sherry.
We only brought back two or three things. We did take a load of
clothes and books to Goodwill.
Our friend Elka was there and during slack time we had a chance to
talk. I asked what age she immigrated to the USA, she said she was 13 (She is
about 70 yrs old now.) She said she was almost ready to graduate. At that time,
in the 1950s she said that school only went to the 8th grade in
Germany.
WE took some clothes of hers to Goodwill also. OOOHm But look at
the tomatoes she brought us, the one in the middle we grew. LOL!

PS: I did not take the trains out of the car. I will have to give it a little more thought. However after telling some of my friends about them, I hd laughig offers of $10-$15 even $25; since I had first thought of $25 as a good price. LOL

Sounds like it was a great sale! I always charged low prices too. I just wanted the stuff gone :)

I think I would hold on to that Train Set just to be sure it is not one of the ones that a collector is looking for. We take things to Goodwill but mostly things we no longer want or use we set outside beside the sidewalk and usually in the morning they are gone ! We are getting hammered with Rain, wind and more Rain ! Take Care down there !! Gary an Anna Mae
Oh, I'm glad that's over! Certainly no expert, but glad you put back the train set. No use providing 'bait' for a wheeler-dealer, ya know? Them 'maters' are sure purdy.
Yard sales are exhausting. I hate pricing stuff and then everyone wants to haggle. Plus I usually sell something for $1 and see it in on Ebay and find out it's rare and worth tons more. Oh well, it is a good way to get rid of things and get the leftovers to Goodwill! Today we could take paint and other things to a drop off spot. It was good to get rid of leftover paints that way. Have a good Sunday!

Glad you did so well and didn't bring much home with you and got the bonus of some fresh tomatoes. What a treat!
I kind of like to have garage sales - but they are a lot of work aren't they?
Lil Sis and I have an occasional garage sale off our trailers and do well enough to consider another in a couple years...glad you kept the train in the car. You will do much better elsewhere. Oh My GOODNESS and I mean GOODNESS. NOW you'll have a bread sized tomato inch thick slice...they make me drool. So far, we are only getting cherry tomatoes up north but they are oh so good.
loven'hugs to you darlings from up north. It's hot but too dry. Eleven more sheets of tin to put on the barn roof and he's done with the lean-to and roofing. Andy will help as he's so tall that he won't need a ladder.
Yard sales are fun but tiring. Its funny how you can price something at a dollar and they will try and jew you down to 50cent. Haha.
