Tomato sandwiches

  Vintage cars:

 1985 Buick (I think)

For today:

We have had home grown tomato sandwiches now for two or three meals. That is my favorite sandwich in the world. I like it with a cool glass of milk.  Since my childhood the tastes go together.

We only have one tomato plant. The tomatoes are good but are smaller than I prefer. They are only about 3 inches in diameter.  Also something I am not accustomed to is they start small black (dark) spots just over a day after picking.  I always enjoy having some tomatoes sitting in the kitchen on the bar or in a window, sorta like eatable decorations. LOL Just after the dark spots, a big spot will appear then start to rot. Of course I can’t waste a tomato so I cut it back and put it in the refer.

I told Sherry maybe we should leave them on the vine until we are ready to eat them.

Question, What tomato grows about 4-5 Inches in diameter and are good for sandwiches?

Not much happening here. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for stopping by our house.

Not sure about the tomatoes, Jack. These days I usually buy the Romas which are smaller than the size you are looking for. Hopefully a gardening expert can help you more :)

I have never been successful at growing tomatoes. I tried them in a greenhouse to keep away the cold and frost; but still failed. You're lucky to be able to grow yours.

God bless.

Beef Steak or Better Boys are the bigger ones. Tomato sandwiches are my favorite too. We have been given some fresh tomatoes this year and I love it. I also like my tomatoes room temperature and not cold.

Happy Tuesday

You're asking the wrong lady, Jack! My 'mater-loving hubby's still asleep so he can't be of much help. Gotta say, I am proud of myself for finally learning to like tomatoes a LITTLE bit.
Have a great day up there!

Lisa listed two favorites, but also Brandywine, Better Girl, ya only need one thick slice to cover a piece of bread...I plant Roma too but they are a sauce tomato so are good for canning. We're trying a new one this year called Wisconsin 55...can't wait for results. My favorite sandwich too is a tomato one on toast....omg...yum.
loven'hugs from up north where this gal has some gardening to catch up on.
Have a great day and hug yourselves for me.

I love tomato sandwiches too - do you put a little mayo - salt and pepper on them?
