Sometimes I get frustrated a long names, BUT

A village in Wales takes the cake. Welcome to:

Long name

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

(pronounced) ɬanvairˌpuɬɡwɨ̞nˌɡɨ̞ɬɡoˌɡɛrəˌχwərnˌdrobuɬˌɬantɨ̞ˌsiljoˌɡoɡoˈɡo

I have the last 2 syllables down pat: gogo-go.

And I thought Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was long.

To be honest I have a lot of trouble spelling  words in our language, examples:

cholesterol.. I had to use spell check to get it right.

Alzheimer.. Again, I just misspelled it.

Chlorine.. I think it is the ‘h’ that gets me.

Pneumonia … is another one. (I get it most of the time because I have used a lot of pneumatic tools.)

I think sometimes it is laziness, in school I remember having to write the words I misspelled 50-100 times, and hand it in to a teacher. Now I have spellcheck (If I get close) to tell me, so I rely on that, instead of trying very hard to learn the spelling.

I can remember when I first started reading of German military ranks, I thought I could never be a Sargent Major= StabsfeldwebelStabswachtmeister ..I couldn’t even spell it much less pronounce it. I could go on, but you get my drift.  I have always admired the ingenuity, ability and stamina of the German people.  Now I know why they are ahead of us in language arts and studies, heck if they can spell their language, that alone amazes me.

I may have mentioned it before, but I worked with a man, an electronics engineer who in his youth was a farmer under the Hitler regime. If any of us  had an automotive problem we could not solve, we could always go to Herman.  I asked him one day about his abilities, they seemed endless.  He told me that under the Nazi regime you produced on your farm without spare parts or any help, or they found someone who could, and GAVE your farm to them and you were sent to work in a factory for your food.  He said, that is an incentive you will never forget.

Well I think it is deeper than that, I have since met folks or German descent who were born craftsmen. Ever heard of ‘shearinschnitte’, one of Dar’s hobbies (paper cutting) up in the North Wood.  She just happens to have a lot of Blood from the Deutschland. All you gotta do is watch Mel and Cher’s stuff to know they also share that creative talent.

My friend Kenneth Conrad, seemed to run his farm on abilities like that.

Now, not downgrading us English-Scot-Irish-Frenchmen.(Whatever I am (mostly the son of Georgia Crackers)) we ain’t  slouches, ‘just don’t know them big words!’

Thanks for coming by the log.

PS:

I believe everyone has a talent for something, it is just hard to find sometimes.

If my daddy had lived he would be 111 years old today.

Happy birthday to your Dad in heaven. I have a blood condition which I don't know how to spell or even to pronounce. It's called IPT or ITP for short so I guess I'm not the only one who had trouble with the word. It's a beautiful sunny day here today.

Happy birthday to your dear dad in heaven today. It's certainly a day to remember and not forget. Spell check has helped and hindered my spelling sometimes it auto corrects to the wrong word. My fingers don't do what my brain thinks if I'm going too fast. Big words were never a favorite of mine either. The sunshine is out in Ohio today. What a blessing!

Spelling was my best grade in school, but now it's my worst. Well it has been a while since those school days. Lol. Happy birthday to your dad in heaven. It's sunny here today and I need to get out and clean the limbs out of the yard. It was so messy yesterday. Take care down your way. Jean

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DAD maybe he will have a party in Heaven.
Hard to believe he would be lll.

We had a spelling test everyday of about 20 words at School. Spell check has made us lazy. It's better than having to open that dictionary every time we need a word. I could not spell the words you mentioned. We have so many words that are spell the same and used different. We'll get by..

It's a horse race between the Welch and the Germans as to which language could most successfully put an entire sentence into one word... :-)

The Germans KNOW how to build cars that stir the soul!

I don't think I could ever learn another language and then the spelling that would come with it. I consider myself a good speller, just don't know if I could do it in another language, LOL. Happy Birthday to your dad in heaven! I'm sure a wonderful day of celebration!
