In the Wind

TRIP SOUTH BEACH 047

We drove down the east coast of Florida to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. As is the case in most areas along the coast there are no wind breaks. The first two days were gorgeous.

(Ranger station just past the sign)

TRIP SOUTH BEACH 009

But yesterday and today we have had a constant wind of 25-30 mph. This is not good for canvas awnings on the RV’s.

(The wind is holding the back one up)

(Flags have been rescued from the poles)

Every thing is in except the ones over the slide outs, they cannot be rolled in any further. They are taking a beating. But the weather is nice staying in the lower70’s at night and upper 70’s in the day. A mostly inside time; time to recoup, but eat too much. Hahahaha.

(The picture out to Hobe Sound did not come out well, these are Cyprus’ making a tunnel)

(One of the Cyprus, and one of the houses on the beach that says don’t come in this ain’t yours)

I do a lot of thinking. Mostly of places we have been, as we watch the travel pictures do a slide show. We are still enjoying the afterglow of a great visit with the family Conrad. We met at their Aunt Nee’s house for lunch. The whole family is such a delight. As I say many times, this family is one in a million, hard to describe our relationship, we met them in Missouri while I was in the USAF. Now we have known them over 50 yrs.

The Woods, Gary & Anna Mae, are headed down from NY, but we will be leaving out before they make it down this far. We had hoped to meet them while down.

TRIP SOUTH BEACH 011

(This is a very nice, our house is blue/white in the back ground. the orange pile, is a tent that succumbed to the wind)

TRIP SOUTH BEACH 018

(Can you see how these are bulging to the rear?)

We are watching tents here in the Camp ground, those guys are having it rough, but look like they are still having fun.

Take care out there in Blog land. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

I have been lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory

Concerning cars, do you remember ‘recaps’?

Ever run ‘used tires’?

Love your Post.

Yes, I do remember one time when I was young and purchased used tires because financially was cheaper for me. It served its purpose at the time.

I love all your travels. I've never travelled much as I was always too busy working and raising two children. Now that I'm retired and have the time, I don't have the money!

But I'm enjoying your photos and I feel like I'm traveling with you. Thanks!

Hugs,Rose

More & more people seem to be bulging to the rear too. ~Mary

Laughing @ Mary's comment. Speaking of tires there is a tire shop in San Antonio that rents tires.

We have had recaps. I can't remember for sure when. It is cold here and very windy. It is 30 but it was 16 when we got up. Joe took Spunky for a walk and announced he AIN"T GOING TO DO SO TONIGHT. Love all of your pictures. You do get around.

That is pretty windy even for a 70 degree day. I'd probably spend a lot of time inside too. The only awning my camper has is the big one in front and thankfully the camper faces away from the wind most of the time so it is sheltered a bit when I sit on the deck there. We had a lot of windy days this past camping season. I do remember recaps and have wondered why they don't make them anymore.

I hate the way recaps fall off all over the road and if you're driving behind someone when they do, it can be dangerous. LOVE your photos of your travels. I hate wind when it gusts like that. It can be very damaging. Glad everything is tied down and locked away. Take care.

Those are gusty winds, but at least it isn't a cold wind, the 70 degrees sound like a great day!! Let's hope the winds subside a bit by tomorrow!

Hard to go wrong in a tent in Florida. Hope your awnings survive.

I used to love tent camping until I bought one of those "cab-over-slide into the pick-up" things about 1980. It was great to drive up into the mountains in the fall, crawl into the back and turn on the gas oven for heat ... without having to cut firewood. And when it rained, my-oh-my, how wonderful not to get wet everytime you turn over in your sleeping bag. I was smiling ear to ear. Love the balmy weather you're having. It was 40 yesterday morn on the deer stand - and warmed up to 66 by noon. Great WX here too. Fred

I hope the wind dies down some for you and I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your family :-)
