Our body is wonderfully made

Historical picture of the Day

Today:

There is scripture where the Psalmist says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Awhile back when my son Mark and I were lifting a prebuilt wall, much smaller than walls we have lifted together, I heard a pop in my upper right arm and the arm became noticeably weaker. We did get the wall up and I took a small break to try to figure what had happened. It was easy to see there was a noticeable indent in my upper arm where ‘old muscle’ used to be. Now there was a hump near the crook of my arm. I figured part of my muscle had come loose at the shoulder.

To me the amazing part I did not hurt. So I tell my DR. this time what I thought had happened and that is when he leaned forward, raised his voice and said, “YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR!” He then nicely explained I had two tendons connecting the arm muscle to the shoulder, and I had pulled one of them loose. He asked did I want it fixed?

I returned the question, “If you were near 80 would you elect the surgery.”

Of course he would not answer, but only said, “This is your decision not mine!”  So I told him I would wait. With that he said to not put too much pressure on the arm, it was much weaker than it should be.  Now what amazes me I can hardly tell the difference.

Okay since I am not a Doctor, I have researched some. I must admit I am still not a Doctor (I probably need another year of study, LOL).
I read this:
***    It's possible for your body to survive without a surprisingly large fraction of its internal organs.  Even if you lose your stomach, your spleen, 75% of your liver, 80% of your intestines, one kidney, one lung, and virtually every organ from your pelvic and groin area, you wouldn't be very healthy, but you would live.

So for a few days, along with some historical pictures, Dr. Darnell will post a snippet of what I have discovered.
The first bit is for you guys with swimming pools:

During your lifetime, you will produce enough saliva to fill two swimming pools. Actually, saliva is more important than you realize. If your saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.

This human body is amazing and it is wonderfully put together!

I heard a lot of boys and girls say when I get 16 I want a GTO.  I never heard one person say, I can't wait to drive a Renault!

Why do some doctors have to get so testy? I recall sharing with one (that) my significant other believed I had an upper respiratory infection. At that, she drew back and asked in a sarcastic tone, "And just what medical school did xxxx graduate from?" I never went back.

Sooooo glad your arm isn't seriously damaged; that you're not in great pain.

The pastor at church just preached about that scripture today (Psalm 139:14). When you think about how intricately our bodies are put together and how efficiently they can work, it is amazing how God formed us and lovingly knit us together in our mother's wombs. Over the years with the type of work I do, I've picked up a lot of terminology, knowledge, etc. I've dumbfounded a few physicians when they start explaining something and I start using the medical terminology for it and then they kind of sit back and say "what do you do for a living?" Doctors can be so arrogant, I think it comes with all they have to deal with etc., and some don't have the best bedside manner. Seemed the one you saw perhaps fit in that category. He, in my humble opinion, should have given you the risks and benefits of having the surgery, improved function, less pain, etc. versus the risk of surgery at your age, potential complications of bleeding, infection, etc. Then you perhaps would have had more to work with to make an informed decision rather than his attitude of saying it was up to you.

I think we all know our own bodies and sometime that is better then what our doctor has read in a medical book. Hope you continue to not hurt.

Now days we have to diagnose ourselves. For the past few months Ive learned more from Google than my doctor tells me. Im still bitter that 3 months and 2300.00 later, They only focused on ruling out what its not. I still have no answer what is wrong with me but I have a good idea. And its not serious. They just will not listen. I refuse to go back to him.

It is amazing when you think about it how wonderful we are made. I always say if it's not broke, It doesn't need fixing. In your case it is, but not bothering you...no pain. Hope it stays that way but if it does, you may have to get it fixed. Take good care and don't overdo.

Kelly had Andy's doctor mad at her for asking something. They do get mad at times.

I am sorry you popped your shoulder tho. I hope it heals - will it or will it always be out?

I am not for surgery unless i have to.

I think GOD is amazing - how can people not believe?

Now, Dr. Dar would say take Aleve and a-leave it rest! My best friend for that kind of injury and pain, is ice........but I don't have the degree to tell ya that. Just be careful using your arm for a spell.
As for our miraculous bodies, my youngest stepson lost his spleen, 2/3rds of his pancreas, his gallbladder and part of his intestines in a horrible accident and he's still going 90 miles an hour..even tho we lost him a couple times in transit to the hospital. God had him that time.
I had a GTO back in the late 60's and did I love that car.
love n' hugs from up north where it was a gorgeous 68 degrees today and no frost this morning. Yeah!
