Now:
Nemesis, the Greek goddess of retribution.
As y’all know, I ALWAYS put a blog entry on EVERY DAY of the week. Example, If I were to miss, in your opinion, Friday. I did not actually miss that day. The truth is Friday did not exist that week on my calendar.
My friend and Nemesis, Evelyn is a reader of the Shipslog. She is very quick to let me know that I missed a day. I must explain then that that day did not exist on my calendar, or Pennsylvania (or Arizona) does not have a Wednesday (etc), otherwise I would have made an entry. Seems simple enough to me.
WELL as it happens, on Mondays the old people gather at Hardees, now that is not to say Evelyn is one of them. She just goes with her OLD husband Don. Anyway when my young wife returned from the old folks meeting she brought me a calendar. Of course it was sent by my Nemesis, Evelyn.
Evelyn is a co-conspirator of proofers that open the proof copies of my books. They smile and roll their eyes and pick up that dreaded, cursed red pen, thinking ‘I hope he learned something from last time.’

You have a great nemesis with Evelyn! You are pretty regular with your blog entries so when you occasionally have a week that is short of a day, I have to go back and make sure I didn't miss something. Its like with Ma, if I don't see her journal entries when I start looking fort them I wonder what is up with her. Its nice to have you guys being so dependable in writing. I look forward to it.
betty
Just how cute was this post? Glad others are looking out for you.
From over here,

Funny fella!
When I look through my blogs each morning over coffee ... and don't see the Ship's Log, I fret just a little bit.
'Wish I could think of enough material to blog every day.
Ya weaseled out of that one, huh? You're GOOD Jack :)
These days I'm lucky to get a weekly post in so I admire you for blogging so diligently! I sometimes miss a post, but then I go and read the ones I missed when I return! I've enjoyed visiting here this year! I was thinking of a term I heard...probably in a book...about old guys meeting for breakfast daily. ROMEOS..Retired Old Men Eating Out. However, if wives are invited then I'm not sure of the club's name! Continue to post, your friends are depending on you!
Your 'meetings' reminded me of the ' coffee clutchers ' that used to meet at the local gas station every morning to solve the worlds problems as well as their own. They now meet at Kwik Trip......having gotten asked to buy gas or leave at the first place. LOL, just happens my youngest brother was one of them for awhile until he got too busy. LOL Now he comes here and he and Bill solve issues for hours. Gads. I agree with the ROMEO statement. :) As for not having certain days of the week present, I'm also guilty. Some days just need not apply. lol
love n' hugs as I enjoy our weekend visit of teen Sy. What a pleasure...he's a 'smart allec'
WHAT A wonderful friend you have in Evelyn. Nice to know that someone cares enought to let you know when you are missed dnd nice she does such a good job of proofing your work too. It takes a special person to be able to critique your work. Not everyone could remain friends and do that.
Oh! Everyone needs a nemesis in their life. lol Those people keep us humble and accountable. lol
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Heck, take a day off!!!!
