I want to
talk politics, but I won’t. My dad pastored a church once that was about equal
Republican and Democrats. Pastors who had been there were beset with problems
because they let their political views be known. Before moving there I never heard political
discussions in a church, even at voting time.
We were there
during only one national election; back when Eisenhower and Stevenson were
running. Their supporters sat on opposite sides of the church. Everyone seemed to wear a political button for
their candidate.
There were some arguments and loud discussions
before and after church, but NEVER any nastiness and they were all friends.
I have said
this before. The first time dad spoke in that church he ANNOUNCED: Please don’t
ask my political views just know that I am whatever you are and we are all Christians.
(I never saw buttons with the candidates as couples! HEY wait, I just noted, that is the same wife.)
So I can’t talk politics now, it would not work,
LOL. But I will say this: I have dug
ditches in Missouri, North Carolina and Florida. If you must dig a ditch Florida is the ideal
place to dig. No pick or mattock needed. Just a shovel and maybe an axe for
roots. It really isn’t much work, BUT
let me tell you something, NC and MO you will WORK if you dig.
For now? We
moved. WE are back in Leesburg for a week.

So happy t0 have tuned in today! Some great comments and pics of campaign buttons etc! I remember "I like Ike"!!! My Dad voted Republican and Mama was a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.
It's been a tough week, stressing big-time over health issues. Rundown and exhausted from catching a bad cold, congestion case. We had two nights of below 30 degrees ~ and I have no heat in my place, YIKE'S...COLD in here.

That is too funny with the same wives on those campaign buttons!! Politics and religion sure can bring out the worst in people when discussing them. That's a shame too because it is good to hear a different opinion. One learns from that I think.

Like Betty said, politics (with or without religion) can bring out the worst in people. I've actually UNfriended a couple individuals who were particularly nasty online. And drawn my own conclusions/judgments on a few others; sad, I'm unable to feel the same affection for them as I once did.
The reason my two dearest friends and I still get along, we've agreed to disagree and NEVER, ever discuss politics.
I was once stopped by a politician in the street who asked me whether I believe in free speech. I said, Yes - of course.
He then asked to borrow my cell-phone to make a call.

Growing up, my dad and grandpa were Democrats. Today he is unaffiliated but has voted Republican for the past few elections. I am also unaffiliated. I think the man with the best plan should be president but the world has gone bonkers and the two parties have split to two totally different agendas. If you notice, religion plays a big part in the way the two parties represent themselves without it even being mentioned.
Todays world, you cant talk politics without being hated and bullied by the other party.
