I have some
witty grand kids, they are a treat to be around. When I read this in a comment,
I thought of witty folk who make me smile.
Myra said: I won't
say I hated her; only if she were on life support I might unplug her in order
to charge my cell phone. LOL! I believe
a famous Prime Minister was the one who said, I never wished anyone dead, but
have smiled at a few obituaries. ;-)
I think that is one reason
I come here is to interact with y’all. I am not much for crowds. Even with my implants I still tend so ask as
quietly as I can, “What did they say?”
Hearing
is dangerous, when it is distorted, I once told a preacher I was ‘close enough
actually to communicate honestly with’ because we were kin, “If you knew how
many ‘bad’ words you said during a sermon, you would slow down and enunciate!”

LOL, I do remember reading Myra's comment and I did get a chuckle out of it too! Yesterday I was picking up pizzas to take for dinner for the grands and I thought the lady in front of me had left a bag on the counter. I said to her "is that your bag" but she heard "is that your dad?" because it was loud in there. When I pointed to the bag and repeated it a bit louder what I asked, she said "no" and then laughed when she realized I had said "bag" and not "dad". We got a good chuckle out of that too. Hearing can be difficult even if one doesn't have an impairment with it especially in noisy places :)

Thanks for the shout-out, Jack! Actually, I stole that line from my son. You're right about young people being particularly witty; I can't remember ever being that quick.
So true about enunciation! That sort of thing was important to my mother. I remember whenever a song would come on and she'd say, "You can actually understand the words!" Nowadays Tom and I say the same thing.
Myra/Mevely is very witty. I am envious that I did not think of that line first. Full marks to her son. I shall copy this in my book and use it when appropriate.

The young folks these days never seem to miss a step and are very quick on their pick up lines. I've never been one to have much wit like that and it amazes me when I hear them. It's really easy to misunderstand people when they don't speak clearly. It causes a lot of problems. Best to speak up and speak slowly. It's a hot one here today to and I'm going to my daughters to cool off in her pool. Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day !
There are several in our family that are quick-witted, but the best is our son Andy and his brother Dustin. They don't miss much. And kids, kids say the
' darndest ' things, like the Art Linkletter show. Our youngest grandson always gently pinches the skin on the top of my hand and says it feels just like pizza fries.! I finally understood what he meant when he ordered them when we were out...lol, he said ' Grandma, see...your skin feels just like the soft cheese on top of the pizza fries.' Ya gotta loveum!, the grandloves, that is.
