From great Communications to Junk aka SPAM

 That Car:

I'm drawing a blank, I know London is loaded with these???

For today Remembering:

All my life I have been fortunate to have access to a telephone. My dad was a pastor, so we needed a phone in the parsonage. It was normal for mama to tell me to run down the street and tell Mrs. Smith she has a phone call. We were the only ones on the block with a phone. That phone was shared with all the neighbors in the area.

Later we had two phones (same number of course), then there were the answering machines so dad would not miss any calls while we were out. Then the remote phone, the rotary followed by the push button. Back then there were NO ‘junk’ calls.  That came later.

There came a time when all ‘wired-in’ house phones were inundated with sales calls.  When the cell phone was first out it was immune to junk calls, BUT SOON those became filled with ‘unwanted’ calls.

Then the e-mail arrived, wow finally a way for us deaf folk to communicate with the world.  Now I must delete 49 out of 50 e-mails.  It is fairly useless as a regular corresponding medium.

Then came Texts in parallel with the e-mails.. Texts were good for us deaf folk,...BUT..... NOW? Yep spam texts. I am learning my warranty is expiring or someone wants to buy our home via text.

I am not familiar with ‘tweeting’. But I am getting rumbles that the tweets are becoming ‘SPAMED’.  I hear Mr. whatshisname, that just bought the Tweeter bird plans to clear some of that up, good luck. ;-)

It seems where there is a will there is a way to sell something, or scam someone!

I apologize for wasting your time, consider this SPAM!  LOL

PS: Thanks Don, or maybe Evelyn for these.  Just good thinking:

The ability to speak several languages is an asset, but the ability to keep your mouth shut in any language is priceless.

How far we've come! At 10-11 I used to like eavesdropping on my grandmother's party line (until one of the ladies would angrily exclaim, "WHO's THERE?!"). At 15 I thought my new baby blue Princess phone was better than sliced bread. Tom's observed, today's cell phones are more like computers. Even those young people wear on their wrists, like characters out of a 70's sci-fi movie. Boggles the mind, wondering what's next?

There is a restaurant here in Scottsdale that is called Hulu's. They do an Hawaiian type menu with several spam dishes on it. Those are delicious! Regular spam in email and texts I can do without though!

There's a new invention over here. A cell-phone that phones another cell-phone and starts a conversation so you don't have to. Also a new pizza take-out delivery place. You phone them, order a pizza, and they eat it for you to save on delivery and you eating it. It saves time and trouble.

God bless.

I guess we all hate Spam. Nothing good about it can be said. I remember Spam in a can. We ate it instead of bacon and it made good sandwiches too. Every now and then I still pick up a can. Phones keep changing and sooner or later we'll get rid of all the junk calls. Someone will figure out how to block them. Hope it is sooner than later.
