I actually started this entry Thanksgiving Day, when I got an old song on my mind, thinking what it meant to hold Sherry and listen to it and sing along.
Pledging my Love…… by Elvis & many more. Made famous by Johnny Ace.
Forever my darling our love will be true ...Always and forever I'll love only you ... promise me darling your love in return ...May this fire in my soul dear, forever burn ...My heart's at your command dear ...Making you happy is my desire dear ...Keeping you is my goal ...I'll forever love you ...For the rest of my days ...I'll never part from you ...Or your loving ways ... promise me darling your love in return ...May this fire in my soul dear forever burn ...I'll forever love you ...For the rest of my days ...I'll never part from you ...Or your loving ways ... promise me darling your love in return ...May this fire in my soul dear forever burn

We done this with a lot of songs. I voiced over “Earth Angel” many evenings. We had a great courtship. She stayed occupied keeping my hands from roaming, but we still had a wonderful time. Sherry was a mama’s girl, her mama had raised two ‘good’ girls already, and Sherry was determined to be no different, she was not going to disappoint her mama.
That attitude upset young Jackie though. hahaha.
I have said a lot about Sherry, but I could never say enough good things.
Earth angel, earth angel
Will you be mine
My darling dear
Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you
Earth angel, earth angel
The one I adore
Love you forever and ever more
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you
I fell for you and I knew
The vision of your love-loveliness
I hoped and I pray that someday
I'll be the vision of your hap-happiness
(Oh-oh-oh-oh)
Earth angel, earth angel
Please be mine
My darling dear
Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you-ou
(You-you-you)
(I left a lot of words out for economy)
(With her nieces, Brenda and Vickie)
This is My time to express how thankful I am for my wife and my life. Without the first, there would be no second.
Today, just thankful.

PS:
That also brings back the song, “PS I love you!”

And this car:
A lot of smooching in this car. We were double dating with Von Dale and Martha. Within thirty minutes, of dropping our dates off, we were leaving Paw Creek, when I wrecked and rolled this car over and ruined a beautiful automobile. Chuck Berry’s, Rock Around the Clock was playing on the radio.
(What a life this has been, from the bombing of Pearl harbor to a day I can sit and RETRIEVE the lyrics to long lost songs in seconds, from inside our MOTOR HOME.)

You are blessed with a great wife Jack and I know Sherry must feel the same about you. Together you make a great pair!
You are a great man to be appreciative of such a great woman! I hope I can find love like that one day.
You are quite the romantic and that is good. what a beautiful life you two have had.
Great remembrances.Helen
What a sweet tribute to the love you share with Sherry, Jack! What a blessing you two are to each other, to your family and to your friends of a love that continues to grow the longer you are together!

You and Sherry were made for each other. How sweet that after all these years you still seranade her. Beautiful songs, terrific lyrics and a romantic guy, still in love with his wife after all these years. You're a winner, Jack.
I also think Sherry is very special..Glad you
two have each other live and enjoy each moment.
My Brother is also special.

It's nice to read this stuff and know that it's from your heart, Jack. I'm sure that Sherry also knows that you love her and she returns that love. On our honeymoon - after I turned the 56 Studebaker over - when I called Dad to report the happenings - he said, "You're In Love and You're All Shook Up"!
You both are so "SPECIAL" to me.
Your love for each other is beautiful........wish everyone felt that way about their spouses.
I had those wonderful feelings........it is sad when you lose it.
Hugs,Rose
I can't say anything personal because I don't know you but I sure did enjoy you page very much. I see a lot of other people listened to the old R&B of the 1950's. I am a 74 years old male from Gastonia and I have all the old songs you are talking about on my iPOD. An extra large collection. I always thought Johnny Ace was the only person that sang Pledging My Love until Elvis sang it also. Thanks to the computer I now have 57 different artist doing Pledging My Love on my computer and iPOD. I am very sentimental and enjoy reminiscing about the old days and the old music. Van Bryant
