It’s so Easy to be Smart (with some one else’s problem)

Below is the lyrics from years ago, Margo Smith’s version of:

It only Hurts for a Little While

*****************************************

It only hurts for a little while

That's what they tell me that's what they say

Oh it only hurts for a little while

Then all your heartaches will pass away

It's so easy to be smart with somebody else's heart

But I don't know how to start forgetting you what can I do

It only hurts for a little while

That's what they tell me just wait and see

But I will hurt till you come back to me

[ sax ]

It only hurts for a little while

That's what they tell me that's what they say

It only hurts for a little while

That's what they tell me just wait and see

But I will hurt till you come back to me…..

*****************************************

This old country song has a very true line in it.

IT’S SO EASY TO BE SMART WITH SOMEBODY ELSE’S HEART!

Translate that to: It is easy to solve the other guy’s problem, yours are a little tougher.

One of our blogger friends  has a son who just broke up with his girlfriend of a couple years. I was reminded of the times growing up that breakups occurred, they always hurt.  This song came to mind.

I have to be careful or I will take other folks problems and breakups lightly, but THEY ARE NEVER TAKEN LIGHTLY BY THE ONES INVOLVED. the heart can actually break. It always seems it will be forever, but as a rule we all survive.

Do you remember?  Wasn’t easy was it?  There are few ‘amicable’  breakups, MOST HURT. Teen age hearts break, young hearts break.  Heck even Senior Hearts break, no one is exempt.

As a rule, (relatively speaking) as the song says, IT ONLY HURTS FOR A LITTLE WHILE….

I hope you never again have a heart break, it is never any fun.

PS:

Polonius to his son Laertes:

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!

(The son wasn’t interested in listening to dad, he was in a hurry to get to Paris. ‘Shakespeare’)

Louis put the 1956 Belvedere on his blog.  This is the 1955 version. I got to see many of these and I loved the paint job. Never did see the 1956.

I think you are right - it is so easy to tell others what to do and feel - not so easy when it is us. sandie

Yes, it is easy to give advice. I've got to watch that one. Things slip right out of my mouth before I even know it. I've found most people don't want advice they only need a shoulder to cry on. Hugs help too.

I have often said "How can something that happened so long ago still hurt soo bad". I have a very happy life now,but if I let myself think about it, a hurt 40 years ago does still hurt.

I know what you mean, Jack; breakups are hard to get through, even when it is a good breakup (though of course the couple, especially the one that didn't initiate the breakup, doesn't think it is a good thing). I was glad son/girlfriend parted, but I couldn't "dance in the streets" around him. The good thing is, few months later, he is actually seeing it is a blessing and glad for all the other events that happened around the same time that helped precipitate the breakup. So that's a good thing :)

However, I know it was a tough time after it initially happened.

I have a blog entry to go about it all, but haven't put it up yet, probably will in the next day or two.

Fascinating how God works :)

There are different heartaches, when you break up with someone you go on
with life. When death take your mate the heartache is forever, but life
goes on and not easy.

Someone elses opinion is just that...advise never cures the hurt, I have found. Life does go on but only once that hurt begins to subside.
Great entry, Jack. You are a kind-hearted man and we all love you for it.
Have a wonderful day, dear friends.
you are missed.
Love the Belvedere, dear! I was 5 the year of this one.

So true. At our house we add the line, "This too shall pass."

Good entry! Don't have room here to write about the break-up that almost ruined a boy's life.

Shirl, Your comment is right on. I hate seeing anyone hurt but I seem to have a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I am slowly learning to think twice before writing or saying something and then it is almost to late. Jack I got my live writer to work on my blog with Firefox.
