How do you live like that?

Just lately I posted about a friend, Bill Morris, son of W.C. Fields, Bill passed last week. We will miss seeing him.(I thought he was 94)
Bill Morris, 97, of Morningside Assisted Living, died Friday. He was born August 15, 1917, in New York City, NY to the late W.C. Fields and Bessie Poole Morris. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Mabry Morris and daughter, Donna Lee Morris.

Now:HOW DO YOU  LIVE LIKE THAT…

mailbox
I was asked that question once by a postal worker in New York when I went to pick up our mail. She inquired about our life style, I have no idea how she knew I was not from New York Winking smile.

Normally I pick a small post office at which to receive our mail. Our mail service in Eustis, FL sends it General Delivery and it normally arrives like clock work. There have been a few glitches, but the US Postal service handles it well.
Once in Tok, Alaska our mail did not arrive in time before we had to leave. The Postmaster said “Just tell me where you are going and when I get it, I will just forward it to your next town.” We picked it up  at Palmer, Alaska.
         Mail
In Alaska once I picked up our mail in a ladies living room, she was the Postmaster and her home was the post office.
The process works real well unless Sherry calls for it to be delivered to one post office and I go to another to pick it up.Smile.

That has happened. But all Sherry had to do was call the service and they told her where they sent it, and I picked it up at the right place.

Mail is very important. MailCall is one of the most anticipated times for men in the military.  It is also looked for by most Americans. Even if it is junk mail, it seems to be a contact point.

MAIL is not as important as it once was (business wise) due to the internet. many bills are paid over the net now and many paychecks go directly to the bank.
atm
Along that vein, the ATM is a very busy place now. After waiting for three people to complete their ATM visit, I made my first deposit by ATM this week. I followed the instructions, fed the one check into the system. It read the check, told me what it said and asked if it was correct, it was, and the check was deposited. AMAZING!
We no longer own any dirt in Florida, so the mail service is our permanent address. On an average we call for the mail about every two weeks.

PS:
This life is not for everyone that is for sure. It is boring, we sleep in the same bed every night and eat at the same table every day. Wait, lots of folks do that, yeah I know, but we do not awake in the same town all the time.  WE give Debt collectors  a rough time.Winking smile <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<V>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It is amazing how technology continues to make our lives easier, LOL, especially when it comes to banking. Yesterday getting money out of the ATM, I saw that a person could deposit up to 30 checks at a time. I found that amazing!

So sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. I did remember you writing about him; it was a fascinating life he led I do believe!

Sorry to hear about Mr. Morris, but glad he had a good long life with lots of friends. We're a little chilly today. Christmas decorations are up here as well. Take care in sunny Florida, Sheila

I know you will be missing your friend. I've lost many over the years and have such good memories of them, I'm sure you do too. We started out with a sunny day and I got off to church and back again without a glitch. That is not always the case when winter draws nigh. Now evening is setting in and I'd hope to finish the decorating today. I'm close, but not done. It'll have t wait another day. Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday !

I think that would be the biggest drawback to living in a traveling house--my mail. We have a little cluster of boxes down the street and I visit it every day. Sorry about your friend passing. I know you and Sherry will miss him.

So interesting, to me, to read about how you and Sherry get your mail....wherever you may be.
Awesome!!
I send my heartfelt condolences to you on the passing of your friend.

I can't imagine life without getting mail. I think it's fascinating the way you get yours. It's nice to know the system works.

It is funny how I look forward to
getting mail but don't like
advertisements. Usually don't get
anything interesting but fun to see
it anything new. It has made the news this week about them delivering
mail to the wrong address.

They are hard workers and have long
hours..Thanks goodness for the mailman..

Sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. I do not think I could wait 2 weeks to pickup the mail, I look forward to it every day!

Your testimony about 'your' postal workers certainly restored my faith in the system, Jack! Our delivery service - both residential and at my workplace - is terribly hit-and-miss. On the other hand, it gives us an opportunity to meet-and-greet the neighbors when we have to bring them their utility bill! :)

I'm saddened to learn of your friend's passing. How lucky you were to have known Bill, however briefly!

I still love seeing the mail lady drive up to our box each day.
They are a great bunch.
When l9oking for part time work, I considered applying to be a substitute carrier but it didn't pan out.

Okay now this is the thing - I would be so worried about the mail - I love my mail - and I look for it everyday - in fact - this month a lot of our mail didn't get delivered for some reason - about 4 bills and that has created havoc with me. So kudos to you.
