James Patterson

           news-graphics-2008-_440897a

I have mentioned many times I was NEVER a reader as I grew up. Books and manuals having to do with work was all I read. Maybe a Western every five years. Then in my late 50’s I bought Tom Clancy’s ‘Executive Orders’. Thinking this will take be months to read. Once I started the book I was amaze that in a week I had finished it and had had the fun of my life.  Since that time I have recorded  reading  over a thousand books. Now I have many favorite authors.

One of those is James Patterson. I have enjoyed his Alex Cross Novels and the Women’s Murder Club. When I saw James Patterson’s name on a book entitled ‘Sam’s Letters to Jennifer” that Shirl had given me, I was disappointed because it did not have the little sub-title ‘An Alex Cross Novel’.

So I put it off for a few days. Knowing James is a great writer I told Sherry, I am going to give this one a shot, I am not too sure of it.

Well I should have been just by the author’s name. I just finished it. A novel I would recommend to everyone, no matter what you genre preference is.

I will give you a couple hints. #1…Sam is a woman, Samantha. Jennifer’s grandma. They are dear friends. I think of Sherece and Sherry I have learned in life that you  girls have special ties. Sisters are special. Mother and daughters have special ties and I KNOW grandmas and grand daughters have special ties.

(As I write this I am munching on little ‘grape’ tomatoes we picked up at the farmers market in the Villages this morning, delicious!)

Now one more hint, the letters were written over the years and never sent. Grandma Sam wanted Jennifer to know her REAL life, stories she could not tell a ‘child, little girl, or young lady’ As Jennifer is reading the letters, Sam is in a coma, not expected to live.

James pleasantly surprised me on this one, I loved it.

I do not do book reports, but this one is sweet and fresh in my mind. Of course I will never see James and he will not read this, but I sure want to thank him. Good Stuff.

PS: My fans (all 6 of you) know I am a good writer, like James, but we keep it a secret!Surprised smileWinking smileI must say though, I really love the writer that “Takes You THERE! Patterson does.

PS2 Shirl grows some great grape tomatoes every year, great snacks…

We have a bowl of grape tomatoes on the table. Guess who grew them? John's first ex-wife. I love to read and have a book going at all times. Especially like to read when I wake up and can't go back to sleep.

You know, I used to read James Patterson all the time ... but fell 'off the book cart' early last year. This book sounds like just the ticket to re-ignite my passion for reading!

PS - It's probably one of MANY homes he owns, but I can send you directions to JP's house near my sis-in-law on Amelia Island. If you're going that-a way, I mean!
I was surprised when we drove by that it looked so 'ordinary' and not behind big gates!

PPS - Love the expressions on your ladies' faces. Great pix!

Me, again. Sorry! I was just informed it's John Grisham's place ... not James Patterson. Sorry!

I usually read biographies. When
I sit down to read I think of
20 things I need to do. George
Bush has a new book just came out
I think it is about his DAD.
I can grow cotton and grape
tomatoes.
