Breakfast at the WAffle House

Little known facts:
1.    Rats multiply so quickly that in 18 months, two rats could have over a million descendants.
2.    There are only three types of snakes on the island of Tasmania and all three are deadly poisonous.
3.    It is physically impossible for pigs to look up into the sky.
Breakfast:

Today our schedule called for a trip to the Waffle House here in Belmont. Sherry and I make the trip maybe once a month (on a yearly average) for a Pecan Waffle.

The Waffle House isn’t quite as much fun to watch the waitresses and cooks as it once was.  For years the waitress would take an order, turn around and call it out loudly to the cook/cook helper. As the order was called out an empty plate was taken out. The #of eggs (in the shell) were put on the plate, and then A grape jelly might mean grits, where a Strawberry might mean hash browns. They had more representative symbols on the plate to tell the cook what the order was, but you may get the idea.
Now they have a ‘caller-outer’ to whom the waitress gives the order to, and only one person calls out the orders. Most Waffle Houses run like an ‘oiled’ machine.
We used to go to one in Orlando, you always had to wait, but just waiting and watching the 12 people in that tight space operate was entertaining. The waitress also cleans the dishes from his/her table and puts them into a very small dishwasher.

Anyway that was the plan for today. It worked.

PS:
There used to be a specific place (a colored tile) a person must stand to call out the order at WF.
also, No matter  Admin or worker bee, an applicant must  work at least a day behind the counter at a waffle house when hired.

That's interesting about the symbols on a plate! We used to patronize Waffle Houses in Florida -- their concept and hospitality's such a kick. Unfortunately, the one near our home needs some serious rehab and/or closed. I'm talking about seriously filthy and indifferent, sullen service, at best.

'Looking forward to snapshots of Elsie sticking her toes in the Atlantic!

Oh I love the waffle house. My favorite? The hasbrowns with cheese and onions. I thinks thats concidered covered and smothered. I never have picked up on the style names.
The waffles are pretty good too.

Its funny to read your post knowing we are only a few miles down the road from each other at times.

One day we will meet by surprise. I just know it. Hahaha.

How cute with the way the Waffle House used to call out the orders. That would have been fun to see! Glad your plan for today worked; hope tomorrow's does the same!

I've only been to a Waffle house one time in my life and that was when I was visiting one of my sons. Everything was absolutely wonderful. Breakfast is something I could eat at any time of day. So many good things, it would take a while to go through their menu. Those pecan waffles do sound good.

Uhhhhhhhh, I could go for a pecan waffle right now but I'd have to make it myself. I've never been to a waffle or pancake house in my life....NOTE TO SELF: add waffle house to bucket list
Me too!!! I want to see that same photo of Elsie dipping her toes in the Atlantic. If you never have, try body surfing the Atlantic...it's a blast but beware of sand in your trunks....lol
love n' hugs from up north where the heat and humidity passed after yesterdays storm........now we can get back to some serious work around here. Gardens first, then finish Bill's hunting palace.
