Headed to North Carolina

An Automobile of Art!
1930 Cabriolet, Minerva Van Plas

And today…..
I am writing this anticipating being on the road headed back to the stormy part of the country. On our way around the deserted area of Texas I see many rundown or abandoned shacks and houses.

Many times I say, that is where I want to live. This was a spot about the size on a pencil erasure on my original shot. I do not have a zoom on this camera. .  Here is the latest, not a good shot but you get the idea.

Everyone thinks I am joking. I would love to tackle this, some roof work, dig a well shucks some old grocery brown bags for wall paper, Start saving feathers for a bed, heck pretty soon it would be a mansion. Sherry says I dream a lot.

She also said, “I will come to visit!”
“What? Our marriage is no stronger than that? I know you are kidding.”
She always points out, small things like:
There is no power!
The closest town is 30 miles and it is 500 population.
The closest Walmart is 65 miles.
I don’t really like outhouses. (I moved her into a house with an outhouse once for a few months, It wasn’t so bad!)
She has small complaints like that.

Sherry has a great memory, she just doesn’t remember the right things.
Okay I need your help, wouldn’t you love the challenge like our forefathers had?  Thanks you in advance for your support!   ;-)

We did get on the road, some fuel filter problems but we are between San Antonio and Houston. Headed toward Florence territory!

Be safe in your travels. Hopefully by the time you arrive, Florence will be long gone. I am very grateful I live nowadays with running water, indoor plumbing and the comforts of air conditioning, washer, dryer, fridge, etc. The pioneer life would never have suited me!

I'm with Sherry I would visit. I love the life of simpler times, but I'm spoiled and like the modern conveniences. Hope all is well in your part of the Carolina's. Get home safely and enjoy the trip !

I think like Sherry but I would also love to have the challenge our forefathers had. I call it “Roughing it”. As I read this, yes, I could see a fixer upper but my eye was on that porch. It has potental. Haha.
The outhouse could be a deal breaker though.
Yall have a safe travel.

How funny! When I was about 10 years old, that was MY dream. I longed to be one with the pasture and ride horses and not worry about seeing other people unless necessary. Man, I thank God for unanswered prayers. LOL!

We ' think ' we're roughing it when we're at the cabin for a day or more at a time...no power, no running water, no flush potty, NOT fun but if we HAD TO, we could live like our pioneer ancestors. It's all a matter of necessity!
I saw a lot of abandoned buildings too on our trip and like yourself, I took a lot of pictures of them. We could easily renovate one of them. Have very safe travels back to NC and hopefully with no damage.
love n' hugs from up north.......hot and sunny today

I don't know if I would want to live there - BUT can you imagine or dream about the history of places like that - who lived there - what did they do and things like that.
