"They Say"

That Historical picture:

1936 Ford Pickup, dressed up a little of course

Now tonight:
They say, ‘Age is just a number.’
They say, ‘you are as old as you feel!’
They say, ‘Walking fast is as good as jogging.’
They say, ‘Jogging isn’t bad on your knees.’
They say, ‘A spoonful of Apple cider Vinegar a day  is                good for you.’

You may have heard one or two of those statements. It seems what ‘They say’ this week might change to the opposite next week.

I mentioned once I had a friend 12 years old and the doctor prescribed two ‘menthol Kool’ cigarettes a day for his Asthma. Today the Doc would be laughed out of the profession (I think).

In my life time I cannot remember the many studies done on caffeine & sugar.  One year it would kill you, the next year it is good for some organ in your body.  You can name many things during your life time that Studies, doctors and other authorities have contradicted themselves about.

I would hate to stake my life on some sworn study and it be wrong.  With that in mind I think most everyone agrees with being ‘temperate’ in our eating and daily actions, in the long run is the best for us.

There are four people in our immediate family. My girl and oldest son ‘believe in vitamins and supplements’.  Youngest son and I sorta shy away from those.

I have this ‘open theory’, I think we all try to do what is best for our bodies.  What we do is right in our eyes (even when we counteract our own policies) we sorta feel like we have ‘done wrong’.

If we KNEW something we were doing would KILL us, only a few would keep on doing it. Don’t tell the smoker they are gonna die young, they will point out Uncle Johnny smoked two packs a day and died at 92 while aunt Beth never smoked and died at 66.  I know, because I justified my smoking.  We justify our own actions, it is human. I even remember when Santa smoked!

Just remember when someone says, “They says that ain’t good for you!”  Just ax ‘em who “They” is?

My doctor said I needed to continue my statin,  I pointed out so far I have out lived you by over 25 years.  He laughed, He knows I am a smart Alek.

What do you remember most that “THEY SAY?”

Ps: SMILE…

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so
old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you
must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'

I know they keep arguing about chocolate. Sometines it is good for you, sometimes not. Same with red wine. I agree with you. All things in moderation. And being careful with what we do and where we go. That all helps with our health.

Oh yes, there have been many they say's in my life. I say it often myself. My favorite is they say, if is isn't broke, don't try to fix it. Works for me and always has. I do think we have to use our own judgement on what works for each of us. I take vitamins even though they say, that they are not needed if you eat a well rounded diet. My diet is well rounded and so am I. Hw! works for me...

Hope you enjoy a Happy Labor Day !

Ha! Who are "THEY", indeed! The first so-called 'crisis' I recall was late 50's-early 60's "eat cranberries and die." (Well, something like that.) Fine with me, since I couldn't stand that wiggly mold anyway. Coffee, eggs, chocolate. Maybe if I were 4-5 decades younger I'd pay more attention. Instead, I'm going to en-JOY what years remain. In fact, I'd probably go buy a pack of Parliament 100's if they weren't so dang expensive. LOL.

In High School say about 1960 there was a young lad who had permission to go outside and "Smoke" several Kool Menthol Cigarettes, he had a breathing problem, school nurse kept his smokes for him ! The rest of us would sneak into the Boys bathroom, open the window and smoke in there trying to blow the smoke out the window, needless to say many of us got caught and put on "Detention" after school ! I am lucky, By singing a couple times a week, I keep my lungs clear and expanded. We are back in a high humidity heat wave, temps 88 and humidity at 11am of 79% ! You 2 behave yourselves, sending regards from the North Country !

The doctor suggested two cigarettes a day for asthma! I have never heard anything like that.

I wish I had taken more of the middle road all my life. I say that.

Happy Labor Day. God Bless! sandie♥

Im a believer that if you eat healthy and dont take any drugs, then you should not need any vitamins. Everytime I go for my yearly check up, My vitamin D is low. I read the other day that it does not matter if you have low Vitamin D and that latley it has been a “thing” doctors have started prescribing when a patient has no other problems. They get a kick back for prescriptions. Who knows.

Off to dinner with my sweetie
