I haven't learned much, but I have learned

My physical ability is much less as I age, but in some ways I am much smarter.  I have never been a ‘name-brand’ type guy. So I have always known that a  Timex  keeps time as well for me as an Elgin or a Rolex  When we drove thru Switzerland I did see a Rolex in a show window for over $20,000. Honestly the cheap digital watch keeps time as well, for $8.

I still haven’t learned enough to understand how a purse can cost over a $1000 or shoes $800.  Or why anyone would pay that

Since our first ‘home’ was a 26’ rental trailer, we have always liked trailers.  So over the years we have owned a couple. Our thoughts were: when transferred we could take our home with us, and we did.  At the time all trailers were furnished, so we got the furniture and appliances in the 8’x32’ trailer for $1500. We actually traded that one for an 8’x42’ trailer and financed the $4200.00.  Shucks we were in a mansion. Years later after buying a home, the trailer practically paid for itself as a rental.

I said that to say we have had some beautiful homes and still have. We moved out of 2800 sqft into a 285 sqft motor home, over 15 years ago.  We graduated to this one that is about 325 sqft.  I have seen so many people who thought they needed 3000 sqft for a family of 3 or 4, and ended up losing it or working 2-3 jobs to keep up the payments.

So we have learned what we need to be happy is ‘us’, plus a place to read, write, eat and sleep. I have fallen in love with being able to sit here and type and glance into our bedroom and see my love smiling or reading in bed.
Yep, with age, I have learned what makes me happy is……… My Lady!

Someone has aptly put it:      Whether we fly first or economy class, if the plane goes down - - - we go down with it.
OR
Whether we fly first or economy class, if the plane reaches its destination - - everyone arrives at the same time.

Our sons haven't always made us happy, but they have always been loved.  Today I am proud of both of them, and today, they also make me happy. That picture was at out 50th anniversary ten years ago. She is still the most beautiful woman in the world.

Therefore . . . we should realize that when we have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, with whom we can laugh and talk fantasies, life, heaven or earth -- that is true happiness!

You had to throw in the plane part didnt ya?
Me and nick are happy when we are snuggled in our 28ft camper. We think our 1600 sq ft home is too big. I always like being in small tighter places. Closness is the key to our happiness. I have seen couples live in different parts of the same house. I never understood the love there.

Im off to work

I wholeheartedly agree... we should realize that when we have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, with whom we can laugh and talk fantasies, life, heaven or earth -- that is true happiness. Never a truer statement !

Something to be said for taking your home with you wherever you go. I agree, 'explain how a purse can cost over a $1000 or shoes $800? Or why anyone would pay that.'And Jack... you and Sherry make the perfect couple.

You and Sherry are indeed a blessing to each other! For houses for me the smaller the better these days. I enjoy I can spend just a little time daily to keep it looking nice.

I love this!

Our 1804 sq. ft. home is TOO big for my liking; in fact, I've a major crush on the newly popular 'tiny homes.' The only trouble is, Tom and I'd each need one and a third for his musical instruments and 'stuff.' Kind of defeats the purpose...

PS - To answer your question in Paragraph #2? My boss could easily open her own designer boutique. I think she has one of every Coach purse they've ever made.
