Things that toy with your mind

Little known facts:
…Before the self-adhesive, every time you licked a stamp, you consuming 1/10 of a calorie.
…Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing.
…The average person falls asleep in seven minutes. (I am not average!)

Mind irritants.
Have you ever ruined a trip by wondering if something was done or left undone?  I enjoy cooking using the pressure cooker. Once I was running an errand and thought, ‘Did I just drive off and leave the burner on under the pressure cooker?’  I was about two miles away. I did a u-turn and rushed back to the house. I had not left the burner ON, good for me.

Oh yes, when we left the Florida home. We had driven about 5 miles and I asked Sherry about the coffee pot. She said she thought she had turned it off, but could not be sure.  To be sure we circled back and sure enough she had turned it OFF.  So to ease my mind, I just unplugged it.

It was not necessary to go back, and we were ALMOST SURE IT WAS OFF.  But With the problems years ago of ‘Mr Coffees’ causing house fires, it was better safe than sorry.   It is so nice not to be in a hurry.

We knew the trip would have been ruined, wondering if the pot was actually off. The subject would have come up several more times I am sure.

The twenty minutes returning to check was worth every ‘wasted minute’.  To repeat myself, it is nice not to be rushed in life.  We talked about how in our lives we have felt rushed, but we really weren’t, except in our minds. SLOW DOWN a little before you are in your senior years.  Life will be better.  If you are a senior, take note, WE have the same 24 hours in a day that we have always had, no one has changed the time allowance, honestly!

Boy, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Once, while living in an apartment complex, I'd practically made it to work (26 mi.) when I WONDERED ..... had I unplugged the iron? Thankfully, there was a sweetheart in the leasing office who was happy to go inside and check. (Angels are everywhere.)

I figure it's worth turning around too. Better to be safe than sorry.

Because my MIL did it and then told me to do so, I always would unplug the toaster and the coffee maker before we went on vacation. I would do it the night before we were scheduled to leave and then confirm they were unplugged the following morning. Better safe than sorry!

It is wonderful to slow down and being able to go back and check relives the mind for sure. Everyone is always in such a rush. Slowing down is great advice.

We do it all the time! Every first few miles down any road, we are asking each other if this and that was off or door was locked. regardless how sure we are, we will worry like the dickins until we go back to make sure. One day we left the beach and he was sure he forgot to fold the handrail in. He worried it would get torn off when the campground takes it back into storage. We ended up calling a friend that was still there to go check it for us. We worried all the way home. Thats when we finally got a call back saying it was all good. We indeed DID fold it in.

Your not alone.

I wish you hadn't told me that about ears. I'll be looking more closely each day when I shave.

I had been babysitting for Andy the past few days and as I left this morning, I wondered if I had remembered that very thing, to turn off the coffeepot. I didn't turn around but remembered Andy telling me not to worry if I forgot because it had an automatic shut-off....I still wondered and called his MIL who had left a couple minutes after me.....it was off. The picture of the black coffeemaker you show is the exact replica of mine......I'm praying it's the new and improved model of the burned out one:/ eeeee
love n' hugs from up north where it's still raining and my gardens are drowning AGAIN. We refuse to replant a third time. It must be in God's plan that we shop the Farmer's Market this year. Not happy
