Good friends, Beautiful cars and a free meal

Early interesting Cars From Rick's collection:
1940 Mercury Below, the real antiques, Phone booths.
My pick of all of Rick's cars, the '55 Chevy Bel-air hardtop.

For today:
A few days ago Sherry told me we had a luncheon date with Don & Evelyn. Don knows the owner and knew his dad the original owner. Don is a customer at Rick’s Body Shop. So we attended with a few thousand people a customer appreciation BBQ dinner. All you can eat BBQ pork and Chicken. It was all delicious. I am sure they cooked a couple thousand pounds of meat plus chicken. As we were leaving, they gave anyone who wanted it, some to take home.

The same meal would have cost in the neighborhood of $15-20 each. BUT Jim and Dean joined us and we had a great visit over the meal. But the icing on the cake is Rick’s collection of antique and specialty cars.  I just love walking by and thinking back when these cars filled the roads of NC in my youth.
  The 1950 Ford

As KIds we boys knew about every make, model and year. I looked over at Jim and Don as we walked around. I asked, “What will kids now say about cars when they are 70 & 80 yrs old?”
Jim popped up smiling and said loudly, “Hey LOOK, A 2015 KIA! We sure had fun in that old thing, gas was only $4 a gallon!”

That brought a good laugh.
a 1939 CAddy Limo It was new the year I was born.

I had a bad camera day, but I just wanted to show you a few cars.
       1939 Ford
1934 Ford Don & Jim knew every engine size also.

Don says the collection is much smaller.

That sounds like the best day. I love old cars...they had character , today's cars look like a warm stick of butter , just starting to melt. All alike. But I have to say I loved what Jim thought a kid would say years from now. LOL Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

Twice a year our community (Murrieta CA) has an immense vintage auto show. It covers two acres and takes hours and hours to tour. Worth every step.

Milk bottles with notes must provide some interesting reading.

I have to say that I liked each and every one of those cars. Interesting.

"Only $4a gallon!" …. LOLOLOL!
Tom would have so enjoyed seeing those old cars. Me, on the other hand, would be busy stuffing my face with BBQ pork and chicken. Rick's was really a nice gesture; sounds like GOOD folk!

What beauties! I love that red pickup truck..I want one! There are always car shows in our area during the summer. So many beautiful restored cars, I can see why they want to show them off!

Hey you were on my end of town! We know about that annual BBQ at Ricks Body shop. I have never been though. Nick’s uncle goes every year. We passed it. Looked like he had a good crowd. We usually attend the Annual car show at Charlie Craigs Near Twin Tops.

What a wonderful day you had. Good food, good friends and all those cars to look at. How nice they do this for so many. Just the thought of all that BBQ is making me hungry and I've not yet ate breakfast.

What a thrill to walk through the car show at Rick's Auto. Love the 55 Chevy Pick-up but then I'm a truck gal. And take a look at the 50 Ford....it's a cop car of course, the year I arrived. LOL Maybe that's why I like fast cars. lol Send BBQ !
love n' hugs on the 12 yr. celebration of Dad's arrival in heaven. We took mom on a road trip and out to lunch. We had a good day.
