Rainy days

 An American car
The 1953 Ford X  (anyone notice the Studebaker influence?) Of course this was never in production.

And now:
It has been rainy here.  It is messy but we really need it. Like many areas of the country we have been HOT & DRY for a long time (30+ days).
When you can, on days like this, do you read?  As my wife says, “Curl up with a good book?” I have been doing that. I have found the 99 cent westerns on Amazon, and devouring them. I have been reading up to 2AM.
Sherry has always read, I started serious reading for enjoyment in my late 50s.  Since then I have read thousands of books. Mostly novels and I have so many authors I enjoy that I can’t begin to name them. Among the top are Grissom and Clancy.
All writers are ‘wordy’, but some are consistent at detailed information of clothes and facial expressions. IMO  it is important at times, but NOT for each character. Readers put faces to characters, it is imagination, and to me makes reading more interesting.
I usually have a thought that produces my blog entries, but for the life of me, I cannot remember why I started off along this line. :-O

Nite Shipslog
Taken from a collection of notes left in milk bottles for the milkman, Enjoy:
**Please send me a form for cheap milk, for I have a baby two months old and did not know about it until a neighbour told me.
PS:
Anyone familiar with the term 'cheap milk', what is it considered in England/Ireland? My mama had a name for the milk left after she skimmed the cream, but I cannot remember what it was. But I think that must be 'cheap milk.'  ?????

Rainey days and a good book are a perfect combination. I love reading and agree our imagination makes each good different for each one of uus. I love books much more than movies, because movies can never beat my imagination. Our imaginations can take us to places we'd never know.

LOL, Jack. I love that you couldn't remember your thought of why you started the blog entry! I bet if you haven't remembered it by now, you'll remember it so very soon! I do like to curl up with a good book almost any time, hot or cold, rainy or sunny. Try to read as much as I can. I have been getting my books through our library ebooks. Plenty of free ones there and I can even put on hold books I want to read down the line when they come available.

I totally agree with Ma's assessment. I'd much rather draw my own 'mind pictures' than what Hollywood spoon-feeds us.

From the time I learned to read I was a real bookworm. I'd like to say I still enjoy it, but somewhere along the way the pleasure's waned. Maybe, if I get my eyesight sufficiently corrected, that might make a difference.

PS - If you're anything like me, as soon as you forget about trying to remember, it will hit you like a ton of bricks. :)

I love to read and rain or shine I could always curl up with a good book. Here in Ohio when the snow flies it's also a good book day! I don't have a clue what cheap milk is but I do remember when I was a kid and the milkman delivered the bottles on the front porch. I also remember how quickly they would break in the winter! Have a good week!

Any day is a good day to read a book. We find a lot at the resale stores like Christian Mission stores or our town has one supported by the Hosp. Auxiliary, anyway cheap for anywhere from a dime to a quarter. Donate back if you want.
We've been getting more than our share of rain for a good couple months but we'd gladly share at this point. As for 'cheap milk,' I do believe it's the skim milk as all the cream is skimmed off....I'd rather feed the babies whole milk. They need the nutrients.
love n' hugs from up north where it's football, pork and dumplings with saurkraut and freshly made pink applesauce day! Gotta love it

I have the same losing the thought problem. I have to have a journal by my side. Then I also tell my husband the random thought that spurred my writing idea.
