Me ‘n Turbo Tax

 Cars of beauty:
This 1956 Buick was new the first time I filed my taxes.

For today Monday:
I sit here about 2 feet from Sherry. I guess that is OK since we slept together last night, LOL. I admire this girl as well as love the daylights out of her. I watch her type as she comments on some family thing on Facebook. She is still a secretary. Fingers flying over the keys as she looks at the monitor. I am a self-taught typist, and watch my keys more than the screen. There are times I have typed two sentences and nothing was appearing on the monitor and I didn’t know.
She loved Shorthand she says, but very seldom has used it. Some of you  have been efficient at secretary or clerking skills.
That leads up to my TAX time stuff. I finally decided on TURBOTAX, since it was used by a couple in the family, and they liked it. Well I am not a fan of TAX HELP. This was my first try. I bought only the basic for Fed tax since Florida does not have a state tax.
I ‘ain’t’ smart enough to use this, but since I had paid $38 for it, I went thru it. I didn’t believe it, so I did them the hard way.

The above is the floor beside my chair since I don’t have a desk right here.

This is my math for the 19 steps of mathematical gyrations to get the amount of Social Security that is taxable. I read the instructions on the screen and did the math on my scratch paper. Then I printed the form for some reason. I got afraid of my math and used a calculator to check my figures, they were right. LOL

I did do a ‘little better’, $4 on taxes owed, then decided to go with Turbo since the forms were already filled out. They say we owe $344, so Sherry reluctantly wrote the check. LOL
I am sure she is just glad the forms are filled out and in the mail. This is a little unusual, we normally get a small refund.  BUT they do have a new form now, it is labeled 1040-SR for seniors. I saw very little difference.

Oh darn it. I was hoping you'd discover Turbo Tax a gem. Instead, it sounds all it did was create more frustration. Despite the outcome, at least THAT chore's off your table for another year. Time for a party … now, why don't you go ask your girl for a dance? (*smile*)

Good job for getting the taxes done! Who knows what will happen next year with taxes, LOL :) I'm a very proficient typist but I never used the numbers on the side of the keyboard but would use the numbers at the top row of the keyboard. I'm taking this time to learn the number pad for doing data entry. Boy is that hard to learn but I'm working on it! I don't want to have to look at the numbers so trying to teach myself like I taught myself to type years ago. Its a lesson in progress for me and something to do these days.

I was hoping you would have a good outcome! At least you got them done. I took typing in school so I can type without looking at the keys. I wish I had learned short hand. My mom was a secretary and knew shorthand. Just another thing that disappeared in time. Cursive writing will be gone before long too.

Our son helps us with all those Turbo Tax issues and the hubby works for the law firm and there is always an attorney eager to help resolve issues for us if needed. I worked for a CPA firm when I was younger and the laws changed daily so I was constantly updating the library with all those changes. It is the same with law. We had some hot weather today, going from the 40's into the 60's and now 70's. I say stop! Too early for anything hotter. Love that Buick! MY brother Ed had one in the early 60's that was pink and gray. OH I Loved that car. He didn't so much. But it was a beauty. Love seeing the classic cars. My neighbor Art usually takes his car out on Monday. It is a beauty but it is a real oldie in perfect condition. Sigh....Hope you both have a terrific week.

We have a CPA do our taxes. I keep telling myself that I can do them but I wind up taking the package and spreadsheets to the professional.
We normally have to pay these days but I put money back each month to cover them.

Congrats on finally getting those taxes done ! Sorry you have to pay but it has to feel good getting that job out of your way. Now you can move on to better things. Most of the family here uses Turbo Tax too.
