Three wheel cars:
The ELIO P5
As many of you know we sold our home in Deltona furnished. Then we bought this trailer in Leesburg unfurnished. Since then we have furnished it from thrift stores, yard sales and son Mark brought us some furniture he picked up on the side of the road.
This included wall hangings, flower arrangements and a few things we were missing. Florida is a ‘throw away state’. Much of the population is pretty transient and move out of rental property for many reasons. Due to lack of a way to haul things some of them leave many things in place. The owners will set the stuff out for the trash man and some of it is like new.
Mark has furnished a couple homes cheap, and this is our second down here that have been completely furnished at less than $500.
Anyway today I checked on some doors for the trailer here. At times doors swing the wrong way, this entry door does, and I want to change it. Friday I found a place that sells new doors reasonable, since I know where it is I can get the door later. However on the way home Jack Jr spied a used furniture place with a black Friday sale. Sherry found a dresser that she says I can cut down and make her a dressing table. We got it. Once we got home it was decided to take our dresser and cut it down, and replace it with the latest one. Both are built in Lenoir, NC the last one is a Broyhill. (The first one may be), I forgot the manufacturer. We bought it many years ago in Lenoir, NC.
I plan to take the center stack of drawers out to allow a place for a person to sit at the desk type left with a sack of drawers on each side. I will have to add an outlet and some lighting but that should be simple.
So I have another project to do quickly, we are going on our vacation ‘shake down cruise’ Monday morning. LOL.
Your dresser will make a beautiful makeup/dressing table, a great idea for repurposing that lovely piece of furniture. Sounds like y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, glad you had your boys sharing the holiday! Enjoy your Coach Cruise, love from Chobee. Glenda
Jack, Are you going to just drive around the block a couple of times at first? Or are you hitting the road. :) Just be safe. My granddaughter used to live in Tampa...she said you was always finding shelves at the curb. LOL Blessings, xoxo, Susie
I LOVE visiting used furniture places! Rescues, too! In fact, Tom found the bookshelf (behind me) sitting out on our neighbor's curb. Looking back, I wish we'd bid adieu to most of our Arizona furniture and started over. No telling how much $ we'd have saved in moving costs. Oh well.
I never would have thought about transforming a chest of drawers into a vanity. That's a great idea, and I can't wait to see the finished product!
Wow! Decorating a whole house for under $500. is something ! Nice you are so handy and can do things like modifying a dresser for a make up table. I hope it all shakes down to be a wonderful cruise for you and your lady. Take care and be safe!
It's amazing what can be found curbside or on the neighbor's rock pile. I've found many items I would never toss. One mans junk is another's treasure for sure. I could easily become a junkie of junk....but do restrain myself. lol
If I had my way, I'd turn the ol' red barn into a resale place to stroll for hours. Glad all is well in your world. Have a very successful 'cruise' in your home on wheels. I can see the vanity...as soon as I saw it, my thought was to take the center drawers out for knee room. I can't wait to see the finished product. I love repurposing.
loven'hugs from up north where I'm repurposing an antique icebox into a mini pantry for kitchen appliances but today will be starting my outdoor decor for Christmas.
You and Sherry are the perfect example of "one man's trash is another man's treasure." Hats off to you for your finds and your creativity in decorating!
That is a great idea to make a sit at dresser. I love to look and occasionally collect roadside give-aways. I put a lot of extra plants on our kerb and they always go quickly. My husband got a good roof rack for our 4wd from the kerb. Enjoy your road trip and you are welcome to have a look at my blog and our road trips in Australia.
I just know your will make Sherrys dressing table a master piece. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
