Memorable Automobiles from The Past:
For today:
Misplaced & forgotten: Sherry was just reading something of Myra’s. It was about
being assigned a room for consultation at a hospital, entering and waiting and
being forgotten. She looked at me and said, “YES that happened to us and we had
to finally go looking for someone.” My sister was dying. During the same time
our minister had went in to see Shirl and wondered where we were, he asked, no
one knew. That was wild… But I guess that is life, things (and people)
do fall thru the cracks…. We did get in to see her the last few minutes of her
life.
TOOTH: Now it has been 5 days and I still have a ‘low level’
ache, but I think it is Lowering, ;-)!
It sorta makes you ‘out of sorts’ or as mama would say, ‘feeling unnecessary!’
BOOKS: Reading actually helps.
I am actually a fast reader, I might be called a skimmer, not sure. I
doubt if I ever read every word on a page.
Now the exceptions will be “Conversations between principles, in quotes!”
I believe my brain stops me there or slows me down. I am really not sure once I
get into a book though.
I have
just finished re-reading 5 books. I actually enjoyed them the second time. I was surprised at myself, on two of them I
told Sherry, “I have read this one too, I don’t think I will finish it.” BUT I did.
The
last hundred or so books I have read have been on my Kindle Fire, so I do not
have ink and paper books anymore. That sorta scares me, will libraries
eventually go paperless.
I use that
term because the businesses we deal with, utilities, etc., want us to be
paperless. We are on most. We both question (I know it is automatic) but they send
envelopes every time but say, ‘Drafted, Do Not Pay.’

That car looks like the black one my parents drove in 1952. I was just looking at a photo with the 'name' affixed above the right front tire -- but of course, it's a mirror image and hard to make out. 'Crestliner', perhaps?
I do enjoy the convenience of on-line bill pay; but on the flip side, have reverted to reading 'real' books v. the tablet. Interesting factoid about the peanut oil!
I am a fast reader, too, when I am reading for entertainment and not for learning. I guess I would be a skimmer, too. I am just re-reading an author that I read probably 30 or more years ago and kept all her books for a second read. I am passing them along as I finish them and usually do one a day. I think I have 30 of her books.

I'm a skimmer too with reading. I think that's why I have trouble with reading nonfiction because for that one usually has to actually read the words, lol, to absorb the info being presented. I do read a lot on my tablet but I do miss sometimes the actual book. It makes it easier to go back and find something you might want to read over again. Glad your ache is subsiding a bit.

Some utilities now want us to go paperless. All invoices are sent online. And they send empty envelopes through the post. I keep receiving empty envelopes. Also some of the Internet shopping businesses do the same. I order something from them and they send empty packages and boxes. I think this paperless thing has gone too far. I sent them an empty envelope to complain and they ignored me.

I’m not a big reader but when I do decide to read a book I would rather have it in my hands. I just find it more relaxing to read from paper. It’s alway easier for me to open where I left off. However, I have read a book on my Kindle App from my ipad. It is nice until the battery begins to die.
