PROFESSIONAL Advice to the Love lorn OR NEWLY WEDS

If I did not put this on before, I should have. I want one of these, if I ever have a mail box again.
We went South to catch up with those parts.

We owned one of these beauties, 1955 Nash Rambler.

NOW HEAR THIS!!!!

Nobody else will take my advice, so I will broadcast it.
1. Learn to give a little or a lot, whatever the circumstances requires.
2. YOU DO NOT NEED A BIG HOUSE, all you need is a Kitchen, living room, bath and a BEDROOM!
3. Buying a home. Consider a Duplex. If you cannot be a landlord, hire one, it only cost’s 10% of the rent. If necessary, you do not have to tell the renter next door you own the place. Eventually you will pay for the place and can use the rent from two units to pay for your house. The duplex will provide income for the rest of your lives.
4. When you feel like you are nearly grown, always live debt free. When you absolutely cannot, and If both the Husband and wife work, NEVER incur debts that require both incomes to pay. One of you WILL lose a job in the 20-30 years it will take to pay for the house.
5. Never rent if you can buy for LESS than rent.
6. CAUTION ABOUT OWNING: Owning is not like renting. It is you that must call the plumber, electrician, A/C man, etc, and you that must pay him. When possible do your own upkeep if you buy.
7. If you are living with a ‘friend’ now, to see if marriage will work, remember that many studies have been done on this subject. The majority of marriages on this basis do not last over a year. To make it work you will have to work hard at it, extra hard. Only true love will get you through.
8. Unless you are very well off financially, your first furniture should be used to keep your cost down. You can find some great furniture at yard sales or used furniture stores (be very cautious at the stores and not pay more than you would for new stuff).
9. Love making: Lock the doors, pull the shades and turn off the phones. You and your mate deserve ALL of each other’s attention. My pastor once said from the pulpit and I about fell out of my pew. He used a twist on an old quote, “She deserves more than a wham, bam, thank you mam!” And he was absolutely right. When possible both parties should leave the love making, ‘the happiest person in the world.’ That is why it is called making love.
10. Keep the fire burning. Complement each other. Let him or her know just how lucky (you know) you are.

Sherry read something to me yesterday that Ruth Graham had said about marriage. Something like this: “Some folks bail out of a marriage at the first sign of bad weather. They don’t ride it out to enjoy all the wonderful smooth sailing and beautiful valleys you get to enjoy together.”

Okay, I have plenty of advice. Please ask! Hahahahahahahaha!

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old,

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

BTW Jack & Sherry, I got an email from that cottage owner today "the response to your last email bounced back..." yadda yadda yadda! I replied very politely saying "It's too bad you didn't respond because I've made other plans". What about the response to the other 2 emails and the phone messages? Sounds like a big ole excuse to me!

I like that mailbox. Lots of good advice here. My house payment is about half what I could rent a nice two bedroom duplex here for.

We need one of those mailbox's it isn't held together with duct tape, haha. You have some great tips and I like what Sherry read to you many people aren't willing to put the effort into making a marriage last and a marriage isn't going to last without that effort from both spouses.

Love ya'll

Well..our house payment is alot less than rent... huge plus! Jeff is wanting to move ..in the next couple years..because a new hospital is being built in our neck of the woods..really close...he doesn't want to hear sirens all night and all the extra traffic in our area.. I myself could retire here...but he would like a little more property and privacy...

Debt Free? Not so much..and doubt we ever will be...lol but trying

All wonderful advice!

Terri
