We seem to enjoy every where we drive. EXCEPT when the roads are terrible. This trip we found many bad spots on I-40, had be dreaming of US 93, the last leg of the journey. But in spite of the bad spots you have got to enjoy the scenery, in doing so I snapped 120 pictures, mainly because I loved the valleys and out croppings.
With a full tank of diesel we started out.
Of course the entrepreneurs know tourists like ‘Indian’ stuff and lore. Above is call ‘GERONIMO’. But look at the outcropping.
These are the views headed toward Flagstaff.
Me? I love the house below. I can see me living in that. YES, believe me, I could. BUT I wouldn’t have my LOVE with me. So I will give up my dream (for a much better one, I am sure).
We visited this site many years ago, the picture is off the web. It is 3/4 mile wide and 550’ deep caused by a meteor 49,000 years ago (Give or take a few, lol).
One the road there is always the mountains in the distance, this one includes the “Two Arrows” Casino.
Then nearing Flag staff we see more green. And the mountains are nearer.
One of the things that saves the trip is the VALLEYS between the mountains, WOW, we have been here before, but the Valleys are always impressive.
We crossed several of these before we reached US93 and headed North toward Lake Meade.
Up and down mountains until finally Lake Meade. That is the Hoover Dam
The last time we were here, this bridge was under construction, and as before we drove across the dam, that was the only road which is actually the top of the Dam itself.
Sherry shot this pictures in 2010 of this bridge when under construction.
The picture below was taken from the road across the dam in 2010.
Following the Dam, we get our welcome into Nevada. The first town being Boulder. Note the rough mountain country.
We are gonna thread our way thru the mountains 20 miles to Las Vegas.
And then of course the signs of Vegas. Big names appearing and Casinos.
Then finally settling at Thousand Trails on Boulder Highway in Las Vegas.
A nice lady signed us in and welcomed us with a big package of STUFF
Thanks for traveling here with us. More on Vegas later. There are one or two things here to see. HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Nite Shipslog
PS:
That was the most tiring part of the trip yet, we are tired, due to the bad spots beating the motor home.

This has been an adventure, all the mountain scenery pics are great and the Lake Meade area is just spectacular! Reading the Shipslog make me want to hit the road!!!
That little house, well it looks kinda hot out there and how far is it to Walmart? Don't spend all your money in Vegas now. Enjoyed the trip even if it is with pictures.
Good to see the sights.. I know
Dewey is looking forward seeing
you both. Hold on to your money and watch what you put in the machines.
Been awhile since I was in LV. I loved the City and loved seeing all the stars walking around. Buddy Hackett signed my place matt at Dinner HEE HEE
I have been to Hoover Dam and the traffic was awful - now I see that it is done - right? Much better.
Now I am glad Sherry has the sense not to live in that house and you have the sense to listen and follow Sherry! lol
sandie
INTERESTING countryside in Arizona. Have fun in Vegas.
I want to go to Las Vagas! Thanks for sharing your picture's with us. Take care. Jean
Great looking Buick!
Remember their ad slogan back then?
"When better cars are built, Buick will build them."
The pictures are all great and I'm glad you are sharing your trip. These are places I've never been to. Looking at the Meteor cavity is a bit scary. I'm thankful we don't get hit by them very often. Bad roads would tend to wear you out and put some wear and tear on your vehicle too. Enjoy Vegas! Yes, there is a lot to see and do. Finally our weather has changed we are cooler, Upper 70's and sunny! This is the kind of summer I enjoy. Take care and have a fantastic Friday!
Love this part of our country. Hubby and I drove the road between Las Vegas and Hoover Dam as we were driving to the Grand Canyon. This brings back beautiful memories.
Rest well and enjoy your stay in Vegas.
Great pictures!!! Such pretty scenery. I love this part of the trip. Thanks for describing it so well. Abut your dream house, looks like one I grew up in only nicer. Yeagh, I think I would take Sherry over the dream house.
