Feeling OLD, it ain't my brother nor my sister it's me Oh LOrd!

Historical Photo:

A lady I know very quietly confided to her friend that she was having an affair.
The friend turned and asked, "Are you having it catered?"
. . . And that, my friends, is the definition of 'OLD'!!!
Okay, yesterday, today and maybe tomorrow I feel old.  Most of us folk who have good health at times get the attitude we are ‘Bullet-Proof’. Well I have found out I am not. That great exercise program I started in the evenings about two months ago lately did me in. I pulled a back muscle.

As a rule unless I exercise regularly I cannot touch my toes from a standing position. It has been that way all my life. For over a month I have touched my toes regularly. ‘one of ‘em feel good things.’ Well at present I can’t touch my knees. OUCH.

BUT I ain’t giving up.  When I die I want to die physically fit. Sherry will be having a raffle for my implants plus $50 at my funeral, must be present to win. I expect a big crowd.  So that while I am laying there in the casket folks will say “The dude looks great for 80, by the way, who was he anyway?”

So remember, it ain’t a good idea to try to rush ‘the plow’.  LOL.

Anybody out there ever use a ‘TENS’ machine for muscle problems?

TENS?    I went to a Chiropractor just one time years ago with a back problem. He hooked up an electrical probe at the base of my back and one at the top. he ran a weak electrical  charge thru my back for a few minutes and that was it.  it fixed my back.

I do not remember what the letters stand for, but they sell them now at drug stores, I think it takes 3or 4 AA batteries. I looked it up and it said if you have metal implants not to use it. I think my implants are metal but don't know. They mentioned 'like pace maker & heart simulators'.

But I would like to know if anyone else had the success I did or was it a fluke.

I don't even know what a "tens" machine is let alone use one. Hope you feel better soon.

So are you saying that your soreness was from exercising too fast?

I have heard of TENS. The dentists use it for people with TMJ. I have seen it at stores too.

Yes Rick used a Tens from the chiropractor a couple of years ago and I have a cheap version from many years ago. It would probably help with some of the pain.
Take care, Sheila

I'd be careful using a TENS machine because of your implants. check with a doctor first.

I have a TENS machine. I bought it at Walgreens for about 30.00. It seems better than the one the Chiropractor used on me. I used it when I had that awful back pain under my shoulder blade a few years ago. The TENS did not help. It made my pain worst because it was not a sore muscle or a stiff back. Mine ended up being muscles spasms and the TENS was just aggrivating it at the time. So I was making it worst. But YES, the ones you can buy in the store are just as good or better than the ones the Chiropractor uses. You will enjoy it if your problem is sore stiffness.

I do not exercise a lot, but know one needs to take it slowly if you haven't done it in a while. But sometimes all it takes is turning the wrong way to pull a muscle. I move slowly these days and carefully as I don't want to pull anything. Walking still seems the safest exercise for me. No matter it is slow. Take good care and get a doctors advice if it persists. Best thing I can do for my aches and pains is soak in a hot bath.

A TENS unit was one of the first things they used on my lower back to relieve tight muscles. It didn't work for me either but then I found out I had a whole lot going on inside. What made me feel the best was ice, my favorite friend, and then heat. It depends entirely on the injury. DO check with your doctor before using one tho. Good luck with that pulled muscle. ICE and REST
love n' hugs from up north where I'm so sorry you're hurting. I DO understand the pain of it all. You ain't old

What??? I go away for a day and come back to find you've hurt yourself?! In spite of myself, I chuckled aloud at the $50 raffle, 'must be present to win.'

My son's had chronic back issues since Desert Storm and yes, the VA prescribed a TENS machine. (That, and opoids ...) Like Tary said, I'd check with your audiologist-lady first.
