Tying shoes..

Early Sweet Cars
 1955 Plymouth Sport Coupe

NOW:
I want all my shoes to be ‘slip on or step-in’ style.  Judging by what I see, many people seems to appreciate the same. That is okay, (I do not) but I should always wear lace up and tie shoes. I don’t remember being taught to tie my shoes but I have watched our sons and grand children Learn to tie shoes and it was such an accomplishment. They were so proud of themselves when they could do it ‘on their own.’

I have no doubt I felt the same way. Lately I lifted a concrete planter. I wanted to raise it high enough so I could paint it much easier. As I wrestled with that thing, it it’s about 100 pounds, I finally had to use levers and stages to get it up. My brother used to make these things to sell for a living. He actually became wealthy doing that. But as I moved that sucker I realized how much work came with concrete yard decorations.

Now back to tying shoes. If I had never gotten lazy and had continued to wear shoes that required me to bend, stoop, kneel to tie, no doubt I would have been in better shape. No telling how many times I would have exercised this body by doing that very simple thing. Shucks, now I even step into my lace-up Tennis shoes.

Okay so I will hear, “At 80 years old you should not be moving something that weighs that much.”  I would tell the speaker, my sister was 2 years older than I, and she could move these things around!

Then the speaker may say, “And she died at the young age of 82 didn’t she?”

And then some of you would retort, “82 ain’t young.” Then I would know the speaker is a young whippersnapper, probably no more than 70 years old,. LOL

Life is good and my back is getting better. LOL

Juvenile Court to Try Shooting Defendant

(See if that works better than a fair trial!)

PS2: I was asked about my ‘Magic soup’
This is enough soup for us two for three dinners or lunch.
 Total calories about 800-900.
½ head cabbage
4-5 medium carrots
4-6 stalks celery
I use 1 tsp  MS Dash
Tsp salt +/-
Some pepper
Table spn minced garlic
Two 14.5 oz cans of diced tomatoes
Two 14.5 oz cans of Chicken broth
I add an apple (cored not peeled)
A squirt of mustard
1 or 2 tble spn apple vinegar
I use 4 packets of powdered Steva (= 4 tspns sugar)
½ cup oats
I med. Onion
I chop all the ingredients and pressure cook for 15-20 minutes or slow cook for 4-5 hours. Until carrots are tender.
I then run it all thru the blender for the consistency of the old Campbell's tomato soup.
Eat all you want.
I have added and left out ingredients, to us it is still good.
(It is good cold or hot, really)

That soup does look delicious! I'm going to have to try it sometime. I remember teaching my kids how to tie shoes. It was a great accomplishment for all when they got the hang of it. Be careful lifting those heavy concrete blocks!!!

I don't recall when I first learned to tie my shoelaces ... but how darn PROUD I felt for having done so. And double-knots, remember? I still prefer a lace-up shoe, but Tom's resorted to all slip-ons.

We've 3-4 bags of concrete the prior owner left behind at the back of our yard, and Tom was greatly amused when I tried lifting one. Take it from someone who's tried several brands, SalonPas patches seem to be the best at relieving back pain.

I do own some tie up shoes, but have to say I prefer the kind you slip on. So sorry to hear about your back...not good at all for tying up those she's. Ouch! I do remember teaching my kids to tie their shoes, and all but the youngest, had to know how by the time they went into kindergarten. It used to be a requirement. The youngest, however, got shoes with velcro fastenings.. He finally learned but not in kindergarten. Ha !
